Committees

School Committees

At Stargate, community members are expected to play a larger role than they might at a traditional public school. Stargate committees are one way to get involved. Some committees (designated with *) are chartered by the Board of Directors in accordance with the school’s bylaws and charter, others are organized around annual goals.

Community Relations - fosters a climate of belonging and trust that connects families and the school in a number of ways, including through family-friendly special events. Want to help? This committee has opportunities for unlimited numbers of volunteers each year. Contact crc@stargateschool.org. 

Elections*- administers elections at Stargate, ensuring fairness, impartiality, security and integrity of results; work includes communication of election dates, candidate slate, tools/process for voting and election results. This committee has opportunities for about 4-5 volunteers each year. Contact electioncommittee@stargateschool.org. 

Finance* - provides oversight regarding Stargate’s budgets and financial statements, and serves the Governance Board in an advisory capacity. This committee has opportunities each year for about 5-10 volunteers with financial backgrounds, including those with expertise in business management, accounting and finance. Contact finance@stargateschool.org. 

Fundraising & Grants - These two categories have been combined into one committee to focus on internal and external fundraising efforts to satisfy Stargate's areas of financial need. Those interested in the Grants side and have writing skills and/or grant experience , you can help research and apply for relevant grants to support Stargate in meeting its mission.  This committee has opportunities for unlimited numbers of volunteers each year.   Contact fundraising@stargateschool.org. 

Fundraising Allocation* -  reviews requests and provides recommendations to the Board for how to allocate some of the funds raised by the Fundraising Committee. The committee has opportunities for two parent members each year. Contact fundraisingallocation@stargateschool.org

Recruiting* - solicits volunteers to fill positions on the Board of Directors and School Accountability Committee, including both elected seats and appointments. This committee has opportunities for unlimited numbers of volunteers each year. Contact recruiting@stargateschool.org. 

School Accountability* - defines, measures and interprets progress towards the school's strategic goals and provides recommendations to the Board for performance improvement. This committee is comprised of five (5) elected parent members, three (3) elected staff members and an appointed, non-voting Board liaison. Contact accountability@stargateschool.org
