E-Days Scholarship

Kaden Armstrong was selected to receive full tuition for four years at Colorado School of Mines. Just three E-Days scholarships are awarded each year and are based in part, on applicants' response to a prompt that, this year, started with "during your senior year at Mines, an epic battle unleashes between Marvin the Miner and his evil twin, Warvin..." Congratulations!


National Junior Honor Society

Paige DeCamp, 8th grade, earned an NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award and $500 to be placed in a college savings account program. Paige was among just 13 Colorado students to earn the award and one of only 500 exceptional students nationwide. Congratulations!


American Mathematics Competition

Congratulations to Valerie Xin for receiving the Maryam Mirzakhani Certificate of Excellence in the American Mathematics Competition 10A.


Middle School Robotics

Congratulations to Mr. Howe and the four Middle School Robotics Teams that competed at the VEX IQ World Robotics Championships in May. Teams from more than 40 countries and all over the US (nearly 800 middle school teams) competed and Stargate was well represented. Fifteen percent of teams worldwide qualified for this prestigious event and Stargate sent four teams to compete against the best in the world. In only their first year of competing, Stargate's teams performed very well, ranking as high as 30th in their division. Special shout out to team 32092E for winning the Innovate Award, recognition for their effective and efficient robot design process. The teams are:

  • 32092A Starvex: Zach Howe, Cal Howorko, JT Tempas, Liam White

  • 32092C Discount Robotics: Jayden Collier, Christian Green, Michael Lovato, Chaze Yeap

  • 32092D Sky's the Limit: Jack Bushard, Wyatt Dray, Andreas Miller

  • 32092E Brawling Bananas: Brody Krause, Rian Pugh, Suyash Shrestha, CJ Treglio


Kiwanis North Metro Teacher Recognition

Congratulations to Stargate Math teacher Paul Rightmyer for being selected by Kiwanis North Metro of Broomfield as one of the top 10 teachers through their social media Teacher Appreciation contest.


Boettcher Foundation Student Scholarship & Teacher Recognition Award

Congratulations to our very own, Mr. Thomas, for receiving the 2022 Boettcher Foundation Teacher Recognition Award. He was nominated by Stargate Senior, Gabrielle French, a recipient of the 2022 Boettcher Scholarship. Each 2022 Boettcher Scholarship finalist was asked to identify one teacher who impacted their lives and made significant contributions to their growth and education. Congrats to Mr. Thomas and Gabrielle. We are incredibly proud of both of them!


Adams 12 District Art Show - Stargate Winners

The district-wide Adams 12 Art Show included a number of talented Stargate winners. Congratulations to:

Champion Swimmers

Recently, senior Max Kulbida broke his own district record in the Breast Stroke and Max and Tegan Barrier were part of a district record relay. The senior swimmers were honored at their last season meet. Both students attend Stargate but participate on swim teams at other schools.


Science Olympiad - HS State Competition

Congratulations to the High School Science Olympiad team consisting of Keya Chaurasia, Melinda Chen, Grace Clem, Hetasri Galla, Madeline Gregory, Chanda Kumar, Cynthia Liu, Ishita Mehta, Lynne Nguyen, Jenny Nguyen, Bryce Randolph, Allison Sanders, Anushka Udeshi, Allison Xin and Valerie Xin. They placed 13th place overall at State with Melinda Chen and Jenny Nguyen taking home 3rd place medals in Disease Detectives Epidemiology. The team had previously earned a 2nd place team trophy at the Northern Regional competition on March 5. Thank you to Mrs. McVeigh for leading the team.


Elementary Art on Display at Front Range Community College

Several of our elementary students have their art displayed at the Adams 12 Elementary District Art show. You can see this amazing art at the Front Range Community College Library until April 26.


All-State Band and Secondary Music Honors

Stargate Middle and high school musicians earned exceptional honors this spring, including:

  • Violet Ence and Andres Orellana made it into the CU Middle School Honor Band. Both will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with other students selected from across the state based on solo recordings. The Honor Band will be at Macky Auditorium on February 25th and 26th.

  • High school students, Jeremy Huang, Sebastian Weaver, Gina Jung, and Noah Jung all placed into the All State Orchestra Festival. This is a huge honor for these musicians. Gina and Noah will be performing in the Philharmonic and Jeremy and Sebastian will perform in the Symphony. This festival takes place at CSU February 3rd thru 5th.

  • Stargate had all five of our students who auditioned for All State Band make it into their All State Concert Band! A huge congrats to Valerie Kim, Cameron Turner, Isabella Volk, Elizabeth Clement, and Nathaniel Kleve. These top state musicians will rehearse and perform at UNC April 7th-9th.


Knowledge Bowl - 3A State Champions

Congratulations to the 3A state champions Stargate Knowledge Bowl team. Those in attendance at the state tournament were: Max Kulbida, Caitlin Amero, Jacob Greene, Madeline Gregory, Ritz Krishnan, Matthew Klose, Nick Hofer, Jeremy Huang, and Swayam Jain. As a result of their state title, Stargate earned the right to compete in the relatively new Knowledge Bowl National Tournament on May 7th. The team finished 2nd at Nationals.


Science Olympiad - MS Team Headed to State

Congratulations to the Middle School Science Olympiad team led by Ms. Tucker. Stargate has qualified for state! The team members are: Zainab Ahmadzai, Vika Berg, Alena Golightly, Nandana Kannaiyan, Anisha Mehta, Madeline Mitchell, Agnes Mu, Morsal Nabiyar, Quynh Nguyen, Siri Ponugoti, and Brooklyn Weber, and Elliot Staats. In prior competitions, all 13 Stargate students finished in the top 10 in at least one of their events.


Math Counts - MS State Competition

Congratulations to the five Middle School MathCounts team members that competed at the State competition. Stargate had the most representation of any school. Great job to the team, Ms. Kolenbrander and their high school student coach, Jeremy Huang. Earlier in the season, in the preliminary MathCounts competition, Stargate students Adarsh, Faruk, Max, and Anshul earned 1st place in the team competition.


Basketball - Metro League Honors

Senior Nicole Gutierrez is a senior of the year nominee for the Meto League, Girls Basketball. Our girls team finished the season winning two of their last three games including the Metro League tournament contest. Senior Bo LePenna is a senior of the year nominee for the Metro League, Boys Basketball.


Mechanics Lab - Restoring Cars to Change Lives

Oscar Proffitt and the Mechanics Lab, a Stargate club that focuses on car care, were featured on the local CBS news in February for their work restoring a car that will be donated to a family coming out of homelessness.


Mock Trial Regional Competition

The Legal Eagles earned three of five individual awards in the regional mock trial competition. Congratulations to: Noah Quintela-Jacob, Best Cross Examination; Anushka Udeshi, Best Witness; and Nicole Gutierrez, Best Attorney. Congratulations to all of the Legal Eagles on your hard work and dedication!


HOSA State Conference & Competition - 19 Students Qualified for Nationals

Stargate HOSA Future Health Professionals dominated the Colorado State Competition in February, with 19 students finishing in the top 3 of their events and 32 finishing in the top 10 of their event(s). Congratulations to: Ishita Mehta, Diya Patel, Deeksha Gaddam, Anika Dash, Aahana Dash, Quan Nguyen, Hannah Nguyen, Rhea Masand, Hetasri Galla, Sahanaa Chandramohan, Malavika Iyengar, Madeline Gregory, Yolanda Ofori, Sophie Setiyadi, Anna Becker, Allison Xin, Keya Chaurasia, Lynne Nguyen, Nick Nguyen, Dhruv Seth, Shai Moseley, Megha Kumar, Yasmine Shrestha, Melinda Chen, Aditi Akella, Bella Petramala, Valerie Kim, Cynthia Liu, Kurt Riggin, Sarah Goyette, Ryan Luo, and Valerie Xin.


Middle School Robotics - 5 Teams Qualified for State Tournament

Congratulations Stargate Middle School Robotics. Five of our six middle school teams qualified to attend State. Of those five, three teams qualified to attend the VEX Robotics World Championship Tournament to be held in May in Dallas. Thank you to Mr. Howe for leading these students! The teams that qualified for Worlds are: 32092E Brawling Bananas (Design Award); 32092D Sky's the Limit (Innovation Award); and 32092C Discount Robotics (qualified based on their Driver and Programming scores throughout the year). One other team, 32092A Starvex, tied for the final spot to Worlds but missed out on the tiebreaker by two points. Great job to all of the teams and good luck at Worlds!


American Math Competition - Top Finishers

Congratulations to Jeremy Huang and Jacob Greene! They were among the 3% of test-takers nationwide who qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Exam, the gold standard of math competition for HS students. Twenty-five Stargate students took the took the American Math Competition exam used to qualify students for AIME. Top AIME students can go on to an even more prestigious event called the USAMO (United States of America Mathematics Olympiad). Way to go Eagles!


Spelling Bee Champion - Stargate Student Headed to State

Stargate was represented at the State Spelling Bee by 8th Grader, Suyash Shrestha. Suyash qualified at Stargate’s Spelling Bee and again at the District Bee. Congratulations and good luck to Suyash! Winners at the Stargate school spelling bee included:

  • 1st Place: Suyash Shrestha

  • 2nd Place: Lydia Lai

  • 3rd Place: Eashan Tilaye


Stock Market Challenge - 1st in Denver Metro Region

The 8th grade U.S, History classes participated in a Stock Market challenge against other students in the state from the the Economic Literacy Colorado organization. Congratulations to Brandon Baggaley who got first place in the Denver Metro region and Robert Everhart, who placed third in the Denver Metro Region.


International Math Olympiad Challenge Champions

Congratulations to Anshul Goyal, 7th grade, and to Krish G, 4th grade, for being awarded the title of International Math Olympiad Champion in the 2021 Olympiad Challenge, held with participation from thousands of students globally. Way to go Anshul and Krish!


Middle School Robotics Tournament

Six teams with 23 Stargate middle school students participated in their first-ever VEX IQ Robotics Competition on Dec. 10. Highlights included:

  • Team 32092E won the Design Award, a prestigious award presented to one team that demonstrates an organized and professional approach to the design process, project and time management, and team organization.

  • Team 32092C placed second in the tournament, nearly upsetting the winning alliance in the Teamwork Challenge.

  • Teams 32092D, 32092E, and 32092A all placed in the top five of the Skills division games, which includes both autonomous programming and driver skills.


High School FBLA - Learning from Local Small Business Owner

Recently, the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club had a virtual visit with Grit and Glory Landscaping to learn about business processes and procedures. Students learned about the daily tasks such as bookkeeping and customer service, how their company is catering their business model to a specific customer base and how the managers balance the dates and deadlines with their many other responsibilities. Students enjoyed learning how the co-owners balance their strengths and utilize their time management and organizational skills to grow their business. Through this visit, the Stargate FBLA chapter intends to further members’ understanding of the American Business Enterprise and inform them of daily life in the workforce. It was a great opportunity for our members to work with a small business and develop ideas to support our members as they prepare to be leaders in business and entrepreneurship.


High School Cheer Team - Headed to State

Our Cheer team will be traveling to Colorado Springs to compete in the CHSAA State Spirit Championships. They will compete in the Traditional Spirit category. We will hold a state send off for them on Thursday afternoon.


Winterfest Concerts

This week the Stargate Secondary Band, Orchestra and Choir classes performed in their Winterfest Concerts. Take a minute and listen to the concerts, our students and teachers are amazing!


Senior Noah Jung Earns 4-Year, Full Scholarship to Yale

Stargate High School is thrilled to announce that Noah Jung received a full four-year scholarship to Yale through the @QuestBridge National College Match. Congratulations Noah! We are proud of you!


Mountain Bike Team - State Meet

Our Mountain Bike Team competed in the State Championship in Durango. They finished 19th out of 25 in Division 2. This is the highest ever finish for our team. Senior Ashley Seger and Freshman Anson Ward led the way with improvements of 9 and 18 places respectively. The team is led by senior riders Ashley Seger, Davis Baun, Oliver Setiyadi and Trevor Maybach. Thank you seniors for all your contributions to the program.


Cross-Country Athletes - 2nd in State

Allison Pippert finished 2nd in state at the State Cross-Country meet. Among other feats, she won at least six straight cross-country races this year, including the league and regional championships. Nick Hofer also had an amazing season and represented Stargate in the boys cross-country race at State. Congratulations to both!


Stargate Athletes Competing in State Championships - Softball & Tennis

Congratulations to our Senior student athletes that are part of athletic teams from other schools. Seniors Shannon Jones and Haleigh Schmidt made it to the state championships in Softball representing Broomfield and Horizon High Schools respectively. Senior Conner Smith plays tennis for Monarch High School and he completed his high school career finishing fifth in the state in singles tennis. Congratulations to these seniors on their accomplishments in athletics.


High School Robotics - 1st Competition

The Stargate High School Robotics Team participated in their first competition on October 23. Our highest team placed 9th, with a 4-1 record prior to elimination rounds. Robotics competitions are new to Stargate and we have both middle school and high school teams competing this school year.


State Chess Champion - Stargate 4th grader Iris Li

Iris is an active competitive chess player. In Feb. 2022,she won the Colorado Elementary Championship for the second year in a row, and represented Colorado at this year's US Open in California. She is currently #2 in the country by rating for girls her age group. Here is the United States Chess Federation ranking page. Iris has reached the rating to be selected into the US Team to represent USA for the World Cadet Championship 2022. Iris is also the #1 K-12 girl in Colorado and represented Colorado to play in the national Girls Tournament of Champions in 2021 (1 player from each state). National & North American Championship Sailing events

Congratulations to Stargate Senior Alex Horne for his continued success in his sailing endeavors. He had a successful summer placing 13th at US Nationals and 21st at the North American Championships.


Summer Olympics - Tokyo Sport Climbing

Stargate senior Colin Duffy became the youngest climber to compete at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games. He qualified at his first adult climbing competition in first place – the Pan-American Contintental Championships. Colin placed 7th overall at the Tokyo Olympics in the Sport Climbing event. Congratulations! We are so proud of our Stargate Olympian!
