Mental Health Services

Lauren Cleary and Lyndsey Collins are the two mental health service providers in the Elementary Building for the 2016-2017 school year. The supports that are available this year in the elementary building include:

  • Small group support in the areas of: stress/anxiety (and relaxation techniques), relational aggression, and social skills. We are offering these groups to target the highest need areas at Stargate Elementary. We will be placing students in these groups based on teacher recommendations. Our first priority is to ensure our students are functioning and learning throughout the school day. We will be sending the elementary teachers a list of upcoming groups, as well as what to look for in student behavior that may indicate a student needs to be in that specific group.

  • Grade-level interventions in the classrooms such as lessons on bullying, friendship, anxiety, and relational aggression. The students in grades 3,4,5 will be completing a survey in the technology classroom within the next month. The survey will be anonymous and it will help us determine if there are any social/emotional areas we need to target that we are not currently addressing. It will also be given at the end of the year to help determine if we met our social/emotional goals for the school year.

If you feel your child has individual needs (the loss of a loved one, divorce, your child is having difficulty making/keeping friends, or does not want to come to school, etc.) please email Lauren or Lyndsey directly.

Glasses Drive

Stargate is teaming up with Healing the Children Rocky Mountains (HTCRM), a non-profit that does medical mission work in South America, to help provide glasses for people who need them in Peru. This year the organization will be doing free eye exams and giving refurbished glasses to those in need. Please click here to see the informational flyer.

Fall Fundraiser

Our fall fundraiser kicked off on 9/14 for K-5 and scheduled for 9/22 for MS/HS. We’ll be selling magazines, dry cookie dough and Love Bags. What’s a Love Bag, you ask? Love Bags are reusable bags with style. There are over 90 bags to choose from so you are certain to find something for everyone. Our fundraiser will run from September 14th through October 3rd . At the end of the fundraiser prizes will be given based on quantity of items sold, including “Principal for a Day” for the top seller, a chance to attend our mobile video game party for everyone who sells at least 2 items, our "Limo To Lunch "experience and other exciting prizes! Sales for magazines and Love bags can be made online or with the paper order form that will be sent home. The online websites are: www.APMags.com or www.love-fundraising.com and the school ID is: HelpStargate. One of the keys to a successful Magazine fundraiser is to invite people to renew current magazine subscriptions through Stargate. We appreciate your support of this critical fundraiser -- we could not do it without you!

Questions? Please see our Fall Fundraiser FAQ here or one of the other related flyers. You can always email fundraising at fundraising@stargateschool.org for answers.

WATCH D.O.G.S. Program

We are excited to launch our WATCH D.O.G.S. Program for 2016-2017 school year! Several parents have expressed interest in the program and we would like to invite all Dads to attend an orientation meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 29 at 5:30 in the Secondary Building Commons. There will be a brief overview of the program and overall expectations, a tour of the buildings on campus, and pizza will be served. We hope to see you all there. The online sign-up system will be ready after the meeting for those that would like to volunteer. Please review the link below for more information about the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program.

Talent Show

The Elementary K-5 Talent Show, hosted by Mr. Osburn, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 27 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. We hope you will be able to attend and support all of our talented students.

Loop Reminders

Morning drop-off keeps improving! We would like to remind all K-5 parents in the Hug and Go lane to pull up in front of the building to use the entire curb. We also want to thank you for using the crosswalk that is closest to the south, the one both Mrs. Cleary and I stand by every morning. This helps tremendously with the flow of traffic. Please keep in mind that we will soon have high school students driving in the loop, so your patience and kindness will go a long way.

Thank you in advance as this will continue to help with the flow of traffic.

We Build! We Rise!
