Happy Almost Halloween Everyone,

It's hard to believe that Halloween is almost here! Here is some information that everyone will need to make the day successful!

Tuesday, October 31st the Elementary Building will operate on a Wednesday schedule to accommodate the afternoon Halloween parties. All elementary students are allowed to dress up for Halloween and we will have a Costume Parade to start the day. Parents are welcome to sit in the Auditorium seating in the Elementary Commons for the parade starting at 7:55am.  In looking at costume options, please consider the following rules:

  • No scary costumes

  • No costumes that cover faces/conceal identity

  • No weapons

  • No costumes that will not allow a student to function normally in a classroom setting

Holiday Treat Policy

The tradition we are implementing for all holiday parties is to bring the recipe and list of ingredients that are used in homemade treats. We have many students with severe food allergies (peanut, tree nuts, gluten, food dyes, etc.) and they need to be able to identify what they can and cannot eat. We thank you in advance for providing the ingredient list for your delicious homemade treats so we can ensure the safety of all of our students.

Thank you in advance for your help in making this a success.

Music Concert October 24

It’s almost time for our elementary students to shine during their music concert! Here is some helpful information for families if your student is currently in Music and will be participating in the music concert.

WHEN TO ARRIVE: All students need to arrive at the Elementary gym 15 minutes before they perform. Please enter through the front doors.

  • Grades 1/2 students will check into the gym at 6:15PM and perform at  6:30PM

  • Grades 3/4 students will check into the gym at 6:45PM and perform at 7:00PM

  • 5th Grade students will check into the gym at 7:15PM and perform at 7:30PM

Additional Information

  • There is no need to arrive earlier than check in time, unless you want to help with setup or see more than one part of the show.

  • When in the commons, students who are not performing should stay with their parents.

  • Students should leave all personal belongings with their parents.

  • It's okay to leave when your portion to the concert is over. However, you are also welcome to stay.

  • Please do not enter or exit the commons during musical numbers.

Help Needed!

K-5 Yearbook Sponsor Needed

I have looked high and low, and I am still having a difficult time finding a parent volunteer (or two) to help with the K-5 yearbook this school year. It is a fairly big job with responsibilities and deadlines, and the volunteers can expect to work approximately 25 hours per week and guide a group of students to help with the yearbook.

If this is a volunteer job you are willing to take on, please contact Missy Hischke at missy.hischke@stargateschool.org

Picture retakes on October 24 K-11

If your student needs their picture retaken, the original picture package must be returned and the student's picture will be redone. If your student has not had their picture taken yet, paper picture order forms will be available at the front desk of each building. The paper order form must be turned in to the front desk by October 24 for the picture to be taken. No online orders will be available.

Respect in October!

During the month of October, in alignment with Stargate's Character Development Traits, our students have worked on being Respectful! Although October is almost over, I would love for the children to continue to always be respectful of others and themselves. At home, you can discuss why respect is important and how to be respectful of others at all times. On Thursday, October 26th, we we will have an at-school assembly about Respect presented by Officer Mendez for all elementary students! Also, a lot of students are working on being positive and boosting self-esteem. Remember to use positive words at home and try to ask your child three positive things that happened every day. Words of encouragement are always a wonderful way to start and end the day!

Fall Play November 2, 3, 4 at 7:00pm

The Man Who Came To Dinner

by George Kaufman and Moss Hart

Tickets: $4 Students, $8 Adults (Tickets will go on sale later this week)

Just before a Christmas in the late 1930’s, Sheridan Whiteside, a noted radio personality, is invited to dinner at the home of Ernest W. and Daisy Stanley in Mesalia, Ohio. After slipping on ice and claiming to have dislocated his hip, he becomes an intrusive and outrageously demanding houseguest. Whiteside proceeds to terrorize the Stanley's, taking over their home and interfering with almost every aspect of their lives. He holds court in the living room for his wide circle of friends, commandeers the telephone, runs up staggering long-distance bills to world leaders, monopolizes the Stanley servants, fills the library with penguins and cockroaches, and invites a band of paroled convicts over for lunch. But Whiteside's life is about to change for the worse when his secretary of 10 years, Miss Maggie Cutler, falls in love with the local newspaper editor, Bert Jefferson, who had dropped by to interview Whiteside. Descends into a panic. He calls on glamorous Hollywood actress, Lorraine Sheldon, to lure Bert away from Maggie, under the guise of pursuing his brilliant play. Maggie counters with a trick of her own, aided by the vocal impressions of sophisticated British performer Beverly Carlton. Her plan to send Lorraine on a wild goose chase is discovered, however.

The Man Who Came to Dinner is a brilliantly witty madcap play, which manages to combine the sophistication of great comedic literature, the frenetic energy of the silliest farce, and a genuinely sweet heart into one of the most beloved comedies of the American theatre, filled with fascinating character roles and winking homage to the intellectual and popular culture of the 1930s.
