Giving Thanks

I had the opportunity this past weekend to attend a Celebrate Life Party for some very special people. My husband and I arrived at just the right moment to hear the hosts express their thanks for family and friends that helped them through a very difficult time. It made me think about all the people I am grateful for and ways in which I can express my gratitude.

In honor of giving thanks to those in our lives, I would like to invite all Stargate Families to come to the elementary front desk to get a thank you card and fill out it for a person they are grateful for in the Stargate Community. You can also use your own thank you cards and drop them off at the front office and we will make sure the cards make it to the correct person.

The staff and teachers work tirelessly for the students; please take a moment to thank them for all they do. My greatest hope is that we can flood our school with gratitude!

Help Needed! K-5 Yearbook Sponsor Needed

I have looked high and low, and I am still having a difficult time finding a parent volunteer (or two) to help with the K-5 yearbook this school year. It is a fairly big job with responsibilities and deadlines, and the volunteers can expect to work approximately 25 hours per week and guide a group of students to help with the yearbook.

If this is a volunteer job you are willing to take on, please contact Missy Hischke at missy.hischke@stargateschool.org

Make plans now to meet your friends for fantastic food and fun in the Chick-Fil-A playground.

Place your order inside or the drive through and let the cashier know you are from Stargate.  Don’t forget to add your homeroom teacher’s name.  The class with the most participants wins a class party! Plus, Stargate gets 20% of school sales

Social and Emotional Aspects of Giftedness Presented by Terry Bradley, M.A. Gifted Education Specialist and Past President of CAGT (Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented) Wednesday, November 15, 2017 6:00 – 7:30 PM Adams 12 Education Support Center 1500 E 128th Ave., Thornton Terry Bradley will speak on how gifted kids not only think differently but also feel differently. Growing up gifted is a qualitatively different experience. As parents, it’s important not only to be aware of their greater academic or creative capabilities, but also to be cognizant of their unique emotional capacities and complexities. This will be an opportunity to meet other families of gifted students to support and encourage one another. QUESTIONS? Email: info@a12gifted.org

Inclement Weather Plan

Stargate follows the Adams 12 School District directives for inclement weather school closure.

Updates regarding school closure or late start can be found on the Adams12 website

(www.adams12.org). In addition to a full day cancellation, Adams 12 has instituted a Late Start

option. In the case of a Late Start, classes will begin at 10:00am for the Elementary and 10:15am for the Secondary to allow for safe travel in the morning.

Family Code Night -  Thursday, December 7, 2017 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

Please mark your calendar. Sign up is required and will be sent the end of November.

Family Code Night” is a whole-school, whole-family Stargate event at which kids grades K-5 and their parents do their first hour of computer programming – together!  At this special evening of learning and fun, you’ll play in parent-child teams to complete fun Code.org puzzles and challenges at your own pace, and learn core concepts in coding in this very first hour.  Afterwards, you’ll go home with a special “Code On at Home” guide to continue coding puzzles, learning and fun at home.  No coding experience needed, laptops available if needed (or bring one device for each two attendees).  This is a great experience to share with your kids!  Featuring Hour of Code puzzles from Code.org®!
