CMAS Testing Dates

As the standardized testing dates near, I thought it would be helpful for families to have the tentative schedule especially since it starts before Spring Break. Please remember that the CMAS Testing in the Elementary building is for 3rd through 5th grade students. All the students will have three sessions for both ELA (English Language) and Math. The 5th grade students will also have three sessions of Science.

A more detailed schedule will be sent out in the next few weeks. The information will also include how you can best support your child as they prepare for the assessments.

Spelling Bee

Last Thursday, many 4th and 5th grade students participated in the Stargate Spelling Bee. The competition was fierce (I would say the competition was better than some of the NFL football games we have been subjected to the last few weeks!) and the students battled through approximately 25 rounds.

We are tremendously proud of all the students that participated and we are excited to announce the winners for the elementary building. Diogo Costa spelled his way into first place, Brody Krause took second place, and Vivi Nguyen came in third place.

Diogo and Brody will represent Stargate Elementary School at the Adams12 District Spelling Bee on February 7 at Northglenn High School. Please join me in wishing these two gentlemen good luck!

A BIG thank you goes out to the spelling bee sponsors, Colleen Vaughan and Lisa Zelinger Cohen and the judges Danielle Kim and Jodi Ware. Without their commitment, it wouldn’t be such a successful evening of academic competition.

Chili Cook-Off and Bingo

The All-Stargate Chili Cook-Off and Bingo is this Friday, January 26, starting at 6pm. We need all sorts of help! The Chili Cook-off ($5/person) begins at 6pm in the Elementary Commons. While the judges are busy in the commons (and working on some heartburn), kids can stay busy in the Elementary gym with games and activities!  Bingo starts in the Secondary Building Commons at 7pm and is sure to be fun for everyone! To enter the chili contest in Red, Green, Other and Student Chef categories, please sign up at:  http://bit.ly/ChiliContestants2018.  Signup to bring supplies or volunteer at: http://bit.ly/BingoChili2018.

Chocolate and Candy and Heart....OH MY!!!!!!  Sales will begin on Thursday, February 1st and will run through February 13th.

Back by popular demand, the elementary school STUCO will be selling special Valentines again this year! Confectionery love can be purchased for and given to anybody.  Students may choose to take their candy with them or leave it, with a special note, for student council representatives to deliver to classrooms on Valentine's Day.

Since this day is all about love and kindness, STUCO will be donating 50% of all proceeds to St. Jude's Hospital to help children with cancer and their families.  They are also donating $100.00 to Nothing but Nets, which sends malaria preventing mosquito nets to Africa.  With the rest of the earnings, STUCO will spend 25% on something for the school and keep 25% in their fund for future use.

Our STUCO representatives will be selling sugary goodness from 7:30 am to 7:50 am and from 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday mornings, Thursdays and Fridays.  On Wednesday afternoons, sales will be from 1:30 pm - 2:00 pm.

come and show everyone you care about a little love and help support some wonderful causes in the process.  Thank you all so much for supporting our student council and our school!
