Dear Stargate Families,

We are finally in our first full week of school and the students and teachers seem ready to go! It has been exciting to see the teachers establishing their classroom routines and expectations. Everyone seems to be settling in nicely.

This year we are working on a new Positive Behavior Support System led by our assistant principal, Sara Moeller. She has worked with the students and the staff to get the system up and running to “catch” students showing positive behavior traits. The traits we are focusing on include responsibility, kindness, perseverance, courage, and integrity. The students are given a Soaring Pass when one of the character traits is observed and they can enter a drawing for a prize. If your students receives a Soaring Pass, please know it is a big deal and it should be celebrated. Please have dinner conversations with your student about the various character traits and how they can demonstrate those behaviors both at school and home.

At last week’s board meeting Mr. Cable and I were proud to share our CMAS Growth scores with the board and community members. Our students and teachers worked hard day in and day out to make improvements in both Math and English Language Arts. Please look for our achievement and growth data in future communications; the results need to be celebrated.

As we enter our third year on our new campus, I would like to invite parents to join a committee to search for a social emotional program that will best fit the needs of our gifted students. If you are interested in joining, please email me at missy.hischke@stargateschool.org . More information and meeting times will be given in the next Hischke’s Happenings.

Rise above,

Missy Hischke

WIFI Update

Last week, the wifi on our campus was intermittent and today it was not working. Our IT Department is actively seeking solutions to resolve the issues as technology is a large part of what we do at Stargate. We are working with our teachers to provide the support they need so our students continue learning in our classrooms until this is resolved.

Thank you to the students and teachers for their hard work to get all the various assessments completed over the past week and a half. They have been taking both formal and informal assessments in reading, writing, and mathematics to ensure the students are appropriately placed in literacy and math.

Student placements are based on multiple data points and we appreciate your support and flexibility as we work towards the best needs-based ability groups possible.
