Hello Stargate Families,

I ran into a Stargate family this Saturday when going out to lunch at my favorite little Greek place. They didn’t see me, but I felt compelled to say hi. You see, the littlest of their humans embodies a quote that I hold near and dear to my heart.

”If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and will always look lovely.”

~Roald Dahl

This week let’s look for all those sunbeams!

Adroit Expo April 26th

The Adroit Expo is scheduled for the Friday, April 26. We are so excited for our students to show their passion projects to the community.  Here's the schedule for this year's event. Please plan a little extra time for drop off on Friday morning and be patient as it will take longer for students to unload their projects. Please park in the parking lots south of the Elementary and Secondary  buildings as the north parking lot is reserved for students and staff.

District Battle of the Books

On Monday, April 29 twenty-eight elementary schools from Adams 12 will be competing against each other at Silver Hills Middle School in a “quiz show” format answering trivia questions on 10 award-winning books.

Since November of 2018, fourth and fifth grade students in two clubs have read the books, discussed them, and then competed in teams of four to six members. During the school battle on April 12, the Book Warriors, took home the fifth grade trophy and will represent our school at the District Battle.

Book Warrior Captain, Tyler Hosfelt, is feeling “great and nervous” about leading his team into the competition because he knows that “there are a lot of other great teams out there.”

Agnes Mu “would certainly recommend BOB to other students because they choose excellent books and they made it fun and it made her interact with people a little better.”

Suyash Shrestha reports that “my team and I have been practicing for the District ever since we won the school battle. Overall, I am eager to go to the District.

Surabhi Sharma liked “all of the books but if she had to pick she would pick Counting by 7’s because “it was really interesting and very detailed. Also, she could relate to this book.” Surabhi recommends BOB because “you get an opportunity to read 10 amazing books and it is so fun to be part of a team and be part of the battles.

Nandana Kannaiyan “feels proud of the Book Warriors and what they have been through together. She is also nervous because they are up against many other teams. Nandana is “determined to win because some of her other friends are there and she is very competitive.”

Jordyn Sale is the sixth member of the Warriors. Her favorite book is “Restart because it was very exciting and had a lot of messages to it. Jordyn recommends BOB because it was fun reading all of the books and the battles were even more fun! She is super excited to be representing Stargate at the district.

We wish the BOOK WARRIORS the best of luck on April 29th at the District Competition!
