Meet the Teacher Night

Meet the Teacher Night is Tuesday, August 15 from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. This is a time for you to see the building and meet your student's teachers in a open house style format and learn about volunteer opportunities at Stargate. There will be a meeting for New Parents in the Fieldhouse 5:30-6:00pm.  The Kona Ice truck will be there if you need a snow cone treat.  Bring cash as the snow cones are $3, $4, or $5, depending on size.

August 21-Solar Eclipse

As you may be aware, on August 21, 2017, from 10:23 a.m. - 1:14 p.m., a near total solar eclipse will be visible from our school in Thornton. This event is being called The Great American Eclipse because it is the first time since 1918 that a solar eclipse will be visible on a path across the entire continental United States.

Safety is our top priority. To ensure our students experience the eclipse in the safest way possible, Stargate has purchased enough eclipse glasses for each student and staff member to safely experience the 93% partial eclipse. These glasses meet the safety standards set by the American Astronomical Society (AAS). Our teachers and staff at all levels are busy planning as we will make this once in a lifetime experience a day to remember for our students. Please remind your child (as will we) that it is not safe to look at the sun without proper eye protection.

If you do not wish for your child to participate in our planned eclipse activities, please email info@stargateschool.org.  Students whose parents do not wish for them to participate will be able to watch the live NASA broadcast of the eclipse in a classroom and complete an instructional learning activity.

If you are one of the many families that will be viewing the eclipse in a different state as it travels throughout the US, please notify us by calling the attendance line at 303-450-3936 (option 1) or emailing us at attendance@stargateschool.org.

If you ordered hot lunch from My Kids Lunch for this day, it will be served as a sack lunch to allow for more flexibility to celebrate and observe the solar eclipse. If you need to change your order, please contact My Kids Lunch 303-778-0916 by Thursday, August 17.

After School Supervision for Siblings and Carpools

Elementary students who have siblings in the Secondary Building may wait with staff supervision in the elementary building from 3PM until 3:35PM (1:30-2:05 on Wednesdays) where they may read, do homework, or play on their electronic devices. Complete this online form to register your student.  The students must be picked up either inside the building or at the pick up/drop off curb by 3:45PM (2:15 on Wednesdays) by either an adult or the sibling/carpool they are waiting for.  Students not picked up by that time will be sent to Eagle's Landing at the drop in fee. There will be a $20 monthly charge per student to staff this additional service. This fee will be assigned to your Student's Infinite Campus  Account, payable on payforit.net and is due the first of each month.

MAPS Assessments

This year we tried something new to get approximately 500 students through one assessment before the teachers returned to school. We still have several assessments to administer before the students are able to switch classes for their math and literacy instruction. Below is a schedule of MAPS assessments so you can help prepare your student the first week of school:

Thursday, August 17 Math MAPS Make-up Assessment from 8:10 - 9:30am

Friday, August 18 Reading MAPS 3/4 grade students and 5th grade
