Adroit Day is coming! Mark your calendars for April 19th. Our students will be presenting their passion projects for the entire community to enjoy.

Some students will have items for purchase or accepting donations to help raise funds for their projects. Don't miss Mrs. Wilson’s KG class shirts that will support their  dog adoption passion project!  


The Expo Day will be an abbreviated schedule with a bring your own sack lunch picnic for all. Students will be sent to designated areas outside in the quad between the three buildings. We will have tables where they can set up their materials and present EXPO style. While half of the school is presenting, the other half will be visiting their peers to see what great projects they have come up with.  


This will be a regular Wednesday start with students going to homeroom @ 8:05am (K-5) and Advance Teacher 8:15am (Secondary). Regular Wednesday dismissal - 1:30PM for K-5 & 2:05PM for Secondary.  


The Expo will run in 2 sessions with an all school sack lunch picnic from 12:30PM - 1:20PM.


Expo Schedule

8:45am-10:15am - Rotation 1

  • All students that have a live animal component to their project

  • Secondary advance classes whose teachers last name is A - P (ie. all of Mr. DeFords Advance class will present while all of Ms. vonHilsheimer’s Advance class visits the Expo)

  • Elementary classes to present

    • KG - Peters, Wilson

    • 1/2 - Ramsey, Pecosky, Falace, Ross

    • 3/4 - Millar, VanPatten, Hanna, Gipson

    • 5 - ZC, Rader

10:45am - 12:15pm - Rotation 2

We are also encouraging parents, staff and community members to join us in showing off your passions. If you would like to participate and show the community your passions, please email me at josh.cochran@stargateschool.org. All community members will present during Rotation 1.  


State of the School

This Wednesday, join the Board of Directors, the Executive Director and members of our Committees in the Secondary Commons area for the annual State of the School presentation.


6:00 PM - Meet & Greet with the candidates for the 2 open Board of Director seats

6:30 PM - Formal Presentation Begins (includes a preview of the plans for the bond expenditures, an overview of the Adroit program - with highlights from the day's Adroit Expo displays - Community Survey results and recommendations, and a look back at the work the Board and its committees have done throughout the year)

Screenagers

Join us on Sunday, April 30th at 2pm for a special showing of Screenagers hosted by Stargate and PEAK Exceptional Services. Tickets are $5 per person and will be sold at the door.


Award-winning SCREENAGERS probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including the director's own, and depicts messy struggles, over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through surprising insights from authors and brain scientists solutions emerge on how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world.

Book Fair This Week

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming the week of April 17th through April 21st in the Elementary Library.  Hours will be: M-11:30am - 4:00 pm, T,Th & F -7:45am - 4:00 pm and W- 7:45 am - 2:30pm.  There will be a raffle to give away "S'mores" the giant stuffed bear. Tickets will be $.50 each. Secondary students are encouraged to visit before and after school.  Parents are welcome anytime.

World Language Festival-April 20

!Hola and Bonjour Parents and Families of Stargate's World Language Students!

Please join us next Thursday, April 20th to share in a cultural adventure. World Language students will be presenting, music, art, international cuisine, as well as other cultural aspects at our first annual International Festival. All performances, samples, and displays will be presented in the Secondary Commons after school from 4pm-6pm. This free event is informative and fun for all ages! Thank you for your support. We look forward to celebrating with you!


Water For South Sudan Awareness Walk-May 9

Come walk with us on May 9th to raise awareness for the millions of people in South Sudan who don’t have access to clean water. The Water For South Sudan Awareness Walk will take place on Tuesday, May 9 at 4:00 p.m. at the secondary building’s main entrance. Donations will be welcome at the event. All proceeds will go to Water For South Sudan.

Elementary Counselor

Dear Stargate Community,

After a discussion with Lauren Cleary, she's decided that she will not be returning to Stargate next year. I ask that you share in supporting her decision that it is time for her to move in a new direction with her career. While I feel sadness that she is leaving the Stargate community,  I also feel joy at the special relationships she's made with students, staff, and families throughout her four years here, and the extensive professional development opportunities she's been afforded and has provided as a lifelong learner. Lauren extends her heartfelt thanks to all of those students and families who have opened their hearts and minds to her as a teacher and/or counselor. Please join us in wishing her the best for this new phase in her career.

Math Program Exploration for K-5

Elementary teachers and admin have been exploring the possibility of transition to a unified K-5 Math Curriculum. The goal is to find a rigorous and challenging program that meets the needs of all of our varying ability groups, provides online resources/support for parents, 21st century manipulatives and the ability to assess for learning. Ms. Blamires, Mrs. Blackmon, and I will be hosting a parent engagement evening to review Go Math which is the favorite amongst the teachers. The math exploration evening is scheduled for Tuesday, April 18 from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the Elementary Commons.

American Furniture Warehouse - Fundraising Event

Who needs a new mattress, couch, bed room set, living/dining room upgrade, home accessory, anything?  Who’s thinking of a remodel, building, or moving?  American Furniture Warehouse (AFW) will make a contribution to Stargate with every purchase starting with the store event, scheduled for April 21 to April 30. Spirit Wear Garage Sale – April 25th 6:30pm-8:00pm at Stargate

The Stargate Fundraising Committee will be selling Stargate Spirit Wear at the Art Reception on Tuesday, April 25 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. We will be selling miscellaneous pieces that we have on hand for $5, $10 or $20 depending on the item. All items are brand new, cash or checks will be accepted. No returns or exchanges.

Pinot’s Palette “Paint it Forward” Event – May 4th, 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Join us for a great night out for a great cause! We’ll be painting a canvas titled: “Colorado Proud” No painting experience required! All supplies included and instructed by a specially trained local Pinot's Palette Artist/Entertainer. Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q – Pre-order meals by Tuesday, May 9th, pick up at Stargate on Thursday, May 11

Support Stargate and let Jim 'N Nick's do the cooking! For $40, you can pre-order a Jim 'N Nick's Family Meal to be picked up at Stargate on Thursday, May 11 ( after school at either 3pm or 6pm, your choice). Each meal consists of one pound smoked pork or chicken, two pints scratch-made trimmings, a dozen fresh baked cheese biscuits or 6 buns, and barbecue sauce (feeds 3-4). Make your selections, include $40 per meal (in cash please) and return to the front office by Tuesday, May 9th. Your meal will be waiting for you in front of the school as you pick up your child on May 11. 25% of each purchase goes back to Stargate! Find the order form/flyer here.


Community Relations Committee

The  Fourth Annual Stargate Art Show will be on display April 24-28. Every student is encouraged to participate and may submit up to two pieces of art. Deadline for submissions is April 14th. Please turn Student Art Show entries in to Mrs. Beatty in elementary or Mr. Thomas in secondary labeled with Student Full Name, Grade, and Homeroom Teacher (Secondary students can indicate Advance or Art class). Both 2D and 3D artwork will be accepted. Open House Reception will be held on Tuesday, April 25 from 6:30-8pm.


Professional Development Day - No School For All Students (K-10) Friday, May 5

Stephanie Blamires, Stargate’s Director of Professional Development, and Erin Blackmon, Stargate’s Induction Coordinator, have worked diligently to put together training sessions that focus on technology, data, and meeting the social/emotional needs of our gifted students. The staff will rotate through a variety of sessions to improve their craft.
