MathCounts Dominates at chapter competition!  Of the 120 students from 18 schools at the Chapter competition last Saturday: Stargate won the team competition (Donavon Facey, Jacob Hofer, Jacob Lei, and Natalie Stone), Donavon Facey took 1st in the individual competition, Natalie Stone placed 4th and Jacob Hofer placed 7th in the Countdown Round, we had 8 of the top 18 students, and all 10 team members qualified for the State competition on March 18.

Ten (the maximum allowed) is the most students Stargate has ever qualified for State (and, needless to say, the most of any school ever from our Chapter).

In addition to the four students named above, the rest of our team members are 8th graders Scott Enriquez and Amie Nguyen; 7th graders Andrew Dunstan and Megha Kumar; and 6th graders Jeremy Huang and Allison Xin.  (Max Kulbida gave up his spot at the competition because his State swim meet was also Saturday.)

Thank you to Mr. Haney for all his hard work and leadership with our Mathletes! Good Luck at State!

Our Winter sports seasons wrapped up last week. Thank you to Mr. Varel, Mr. DeFord and Ms. Lotkowski for their great leadership with our Middle School Girls Basketball teams! We had the most players in our programs history and they did a great job of including everyone! The ‘A’ team won in the first round of the tournament and lost a heartbreaker in the semi finals!

Our Boys and Girls High School Basketball season ended last week as well. The Boys finished the season with an 11-4 record and lost in the championship game in the season ending tournament. The girls finished with a 6-11 record and played hard all season despite many games vs. teams with full rosters of juniors and seniors! The future's looking bright for our High School athletic teams as we enter CHSAA  competition next year as at 3A team in the Confluence League.

Coed High School Track and Girls High School Soccer begins today after school! Players must be registered online-HERE.  High School games and information can be found on the High School Athletic webpage. Middle School Girls Soccer and Middle School Boys Baseball begins March 13. Players must be registered online-HERE. Game schedules and information can be found on our Middle School Athletic webpage

Traffic Reminders for Elementary Parents.... Use the Red Lane to Drop Off at the K-5.... Please use the Entire Red Lane for drop off and not stop early to drop off your child. The Yellow Lane should be for those driving through to drop off at the Secondary Building. Cross only at the Crosswalk closest to the K-5. Do not use the Yellow Lane to Merge over and try to drop off at the K-5. This causes congestion, means you are impatient and NOBODY likes a lane Cutter! Please only drop off your child when you are pulled over and next to the curb! If you have to get out of your vehicle to help your child, The Loop is not for you. Please park in the lot if your kiddo needs extra assistance! See the image below for a helpful guideline....

Secondary Computer/CMAS setup/schedule-Device Action Needed

State CMAS testing will soon be upon us. This year, in an effort to minimize testing's impact on instructional time and the number of instructional days impacted, we are going to have all students in the secondary testing at the same time. In order to do this, each student will test on their personal laptop. To set your student up for a successful testing season and support the school-wide plan to test all students at once, please be sure the following four items are in order to to ensure they are ready for testing season. The testing schedule can be found here for Secondary

1. Your student will need to download and install the test application on their computer. Please complete this with your student by Sunday, February 26th as we will be checking computer readiness the week of February 27th. Directions for this process can be found here: Windows, Mac, Chromebook. If you need support completing this step please reach out to  testsupport@stargateschool.org

2. Your student will need a computer mouse for testing.

3. Your student will need computer compatible headphones for testing.

4. Students computer battery will need to be fully changed (please send them with their charger as well).

Secondary Computer Check Out Release Form

As a Bring Your Own Device School, it is imperative that students bring their computer to school every day fully charged and ready to go.  School computers are available but only for emergencies. We have had more and more students checking out school computers because they have forgot to charge their computer, left them at home or did not feel like bringing them. Beginning March 1, 2017, students will need a Parent signed Computer Check out Release Form if they need to temporarily borrow a school computer. (Computers are checked out at the beginning of each academic period and checked back in during off hours, lunches and at the end of the day) These forms are available on the website (link here) or at the front desk.
