C Notes 2/12/18

posted Feb 12, 2018, 3:24 PM by Jane Baker

Thank you to all of our families that joined us for our winter conferences last week. It was great to see so many families engaged with teachers and discussing their child's progress this year. Thank you to our staff for the immense time and effort you put in to hosting thoughtful and productive conversations with parents and students. I want to also thank our CRC and all the volunteers for keeping our staff well fed during the late nights. We really appreciate all you do!

We had a lot of successes this past week

  • The High School Knowledge Bowl team won the 3A classification regional and placed 2nd overall (all classifications), qualifying to attend the State Knowledge Bowl tournament at CSU on March 12 and 13.

  • Cheyenne Trujillo won 1st place at the Adams 12 District Spelling Bee, Diogo Costa 4th, Erin Stander 6th and Hannah Nguyen 10th place all qualifying for the State Bee!

  • Our Mathcounts team led by Mr. Haney took 2nd place in the District finals competition at Adams 12 and in the individual competition, Donavon Facey took 1st place, Max Kulbida 4th, Alexa Harper 5th, Jeremy Huang 8th, and Allison Xin 9th place. The next event is the North Metro Chapter competition on February 24th.

  • Mock Trial team is also headed to State! Led by Mr. Fulton and a 2nd place finish at their regional meet. The team was also honored with the Professionalism Award.

  • High School Boys and Girls Basketball teams finish the regular season this week and both are in great position to possibly qualify for the state tournament. They will play in the Confluence/Colorado 7 regional next week to determine seeding.

I hope that as we continue though the year, we all recognize the shared partnership that is educating our students. I know our staff's commitment to educate each individual child is ever present as we work to live the Stargate mission each day. While I will be the first to take responsibility for the unacceptable number of Office of Civil Rights complaints and investigations,  I am very proud of the accountability systems we have implemented to ensure these mistakes never happen again. I would invite anyone who has questions, concerns or wants to share a success to join me for a Coffee with C on Wednesday February 21st, 2018 at 8:10am in the elementary commons. During this meeting you can hear from us directly on how we are making improvements to ensure the safety, well-being and positive school environment for all of our Stargate students and staff. While we cannot change the past, we can have a positive impact on our school’s future! I hope you will join me next week.

Josh

Take the Adams 12 online survey:

2017-18 Adams 12 Parent Engagement Survey www.adams12.org/parentsurvey

School Access Code: stargate

Along with the Stargate Stakeholder Survey that was conducted in January, you have the option of participating in the Adams 12 Parent Engagement and Satisfaction Survey. The Survey is now open and we highly encourage you to provide feedback on how we are doing as a school.

  • The school access code is required to begin the survey. Copy/paste or type the school code on the survey landing page. When you begin the taking the survey, it will confirm your school name at the top of the page.

  • The anonymous survey is open between Feb. 12 and March 2, 2018.

  • The survey is expected to take between 5-10 minutes and can be taken in English, Spanish or nine other languages.

  • You will have access to survey results for your school in April 2018.

  • Survey data is benchmarked nationally and compared to the Five Star staff survey to create a comprehensive understanding of the school’s culture and climate.

Our Accountability Committee will utilize this additional data to make recommendations to the administration and governing board. Thank you in advance for taking this important survey as we work together to continue to elevate the way we serve your child in every classroom, every day.
