It is going to be a great start to February with the amazing weather we are expecting this week! We are keeping our fingers crossed as we need the nice weather to complete our remaining fields and track work!

Thank you to the great group of parents that came to engage in our Bond Priority and Planning Meeting last Friday. We identified four major themes based on community, staff and student feedback.

Our community would like to invest in:

  1. Performing Arts Center

  2. Adroit Lab for K-12 Design Thinking

  3. Renovating and Reimagining Library space in both buildings

  4. Parking/Traffic Addition and Improvements.

Please consider helping us identify our top 10 priorities by completing the attached form.  Our bond planning and priority committee will consider your feedback and make a recommendation to our governance board at their February meeting.

The students are beginning to engage in the planning for our ADROIT DAY Passion Project Expo on April 19th. The Adroit Expo is the culminating day where we invite the entire Stargate community to demonstrate and show off their passions! On April 19th students and staff alike will display the items that are unique and personal to them! Please feel free to email us if you have any questions or ideas at AdminTeam@stargateschool.org

We are currently accepting applications for teaching positions for next school year. If you know any interested applicants, please send them to the carreers page of our website at http://www.stargateschool.org/discover-stargate/careers. This week we will also be interviewing for an Elementary Principal as my role as Executive Director continues to evolve. Our full buildout plan includes 1 Executive Director for K-12, 1 K-5 Principal, 1 6 - 12 Principal, and 1 Assistant Principal in each building. Mrs. Hischke is a candidate for our Elementary Principal and will be interviewing with our hiring committee this week. The hiring committee is comprised of elementary teachers/support staff, two board members and our Director of Professional Development.

Everyone is invited to our Elementary Principal Community Presentation at 6:30PM on Monday February 6, 2017. At this event, in our Elementary Commons, you will hear a presentation from the top candidates for the Elementary/K-5 Principal position and engage with them via question and answer.  Please send any questions to josh.cochran@stargateschool.org

Come fill the stands of our Fieldhouse in support of our High School Basketball teams on Friday, February 3.  The girls play at 4:30pm and the boys play at 6:00pm.  Bring some extra money for a hot dog, nachos or pretzel at our concessions stand.  All proceeds benefit the Stargate HS student government.

We look forward to your feedback and engagement in the important processes ahead.

A HUGE shout out to Mrs. Bishop and her 8th grade science classes. They took on a massive project to create arcade games using circuits. The 3rd-4th graders came over and tested the games. So much creativity and learning, so much fun for everyone. Thank you for coordinating all of these moving parts and thank you for making learning fun!

Officer Mendez was a guest teacher this week in the 8th grade US History classes! Thank you for teaching our students about the real life applications of the Bill of Rights and for helping to see how it works in our everyday life.

There is a new tree in the Elementary Library created by Mrs Beatty’s Art Class.  The tree is inspired by the book The Giving Tree.  They are working on more leaves and will also be adding a description and interactive component so stay tuned!  :)
