C Notes 11/13/17

posted Nov 13, 2017, 2:35 PM by Jane Baker

It is hard to believe it's the last week of school before Thanksgiving break. I know I have a lot to be thankful for as I'm sure do each of you.

I am truly thankful to be a part of this amazing school family. This empathetic community of students, families and staff who truly put our kids and their education first.

I am thankful for the countless hours, early mornings and late nights that our teachers and staff contribute. The staff is truly my second family and I can't thank them enough for the school they've helped build.

I am thankful for the hundreds of hours that our volunteers put forth to plan events, help in classrooms, chaperone field trips, contribute during evening committee meetings, and govern the school. Without your selfless donation of time, Stargate would not be where we are today.

I am thankful for the students and the constant reminder of why we show up each day. Their innovative, creative and thoughtful minds allow us to go deeper beyond the surface to really connect with the learning.

Thank you to my family, Morgan, Cooper, Tatum and Joni. The grace you show me, the love and understanding are tremendous contributors to my work. I love and appreciate you very much!

I hope you all have a wonderful and enjoyable week off and take some time to play hard and love hard.

Josh

Social and Emotional Aspects of Giftedness Presented by Terry Bradley, M.A. Gifted Education Specialist and Past President of CAGT (Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented) Wednesday, November 15, 2017 6:00 – 7:30 PM Adams 12 Education Support Center 1500 E 128th Ave., Thornton Terry Bradley will speak on how gifted kids not only think differently but also feel differently. Growing up gifted is a qualitatively different experience. As parents, it’s important not only to be aware of their greater academic or creative capabilities, but also to be cognizant of their unique emotional capacities and complexities. This will be an opportunity to meet other families of gifted students to support and encourage one another. QUESTIONS? Email: info@a12gifted.org

The Secondary and Elementary schools are both hosting Thanksgiving Food Drives! Check out this great video courtesy of Mr. Sergeeff and his students.

Elementary - It is time for our Thanksgiving Food Drive! The Girls on the Run Program and Stargate Elementary students will team up to collect food for Food for Hope. Food for Hope is a non-profit organization that collects food for families in need in Adams County.

Freshmen will bring food to Dr. Pegler’s room, sophomores to Ms. Walsh’s room, and juniors to Mr. Mikow’s room. The high school classes will compete through a point based system where any non-perishable food is worth 10 points and a Thanksgiving themed food item is worth 30 points.
