Stargate families,

It feels like we are already back in to the swing of things after coming off a long break a few weeks ago. I look forward to all the many things that second semester holds including more academic and athletic competitions, testing season where we have the opportunity for students to WOW our greater community with all they have learned, our Adroit Expo on April 19, 8th Grade Continuation and our first High School Graduation and many others. I feel like we are in the middle of an exciting time at Stargate, with so much to be proud of.

Rise above,

Drop Off/Pick Up Reminder

For safety of all our students, please always cross at the crosswalks and remind your student to always cross at the crosswalk. There are crosswalks located near the front door of each building, between the buildings and on the west side of the Secondary building near the traffic signal. We have a number of students (and parents) darting across traffic during pick up and drop off and this is dangerous. In the loop, please pull to the curb before letting your student in or out of the car. Students should not be dropped off or picked up from the center lane of the loop. Please take a few extra minutes to make sure our students are safe during these busy times. And please stay off your phone while in the loop so all eyes can be on keeping our students safe. A little extra courtesy, caution, and awareness is appreciated. Thank you for helping keep all our students safe.

Sherlock Hounds Information Meeting January 24 at 5pm

Beginning this month, we will be starting a new proactive and preventative safety program. A company called Sherlock Hounds Detection Canines will begin visiting our school, in a non-threatening but very visible manner using scent trained friendly dogs. Their presence is a visible reminder to students that drugs, alcohol and dangerous substances do not belong in school. It is our intention to deter individuals from bringing these items to our school. Sherlock Hounds will begin randomly scheduled visits throughout the year beginning this month. We have chosen this company because of their ability to design the right program for our school climate, their safe and non-threatening canines, their background in education and their goal of reducing occurrences of drugs, alcohol and other substances in school. Sherlock Hounds will assist in maintaining the safety of our school. This program will be in addition to discussing the negative effects of drugs, alcohol, and dangerous substances with students. If you would like to hear more about this program, please plan to attend a parent information night with a representative from Sherlock Hounds on January 24 at 5:00 pm in the Secondary Building.

Parent/Teacher Conferences February 13 and 14

Spring conferences are a chance for parents/guardians to meet with all of their student’s teachers. Plan to spend 5 minutes with each teacher discussing student progress and asking questions about the class. Our conference format will be Open House, with all teachers available in the Secondary Commons.

Please see below for schedule:
February 13 - 3:30pm-7:30pm (Last Name A-L)
February 14 - 3:30pm-7:30pm (Last Name M-Z)

Interest in being a Girls on the Run Coach for 6-8 Grade Girls?

Stargate middle school Girls on the Run program (Heart & Sole) is in need of 2-3 volunteer coaches. As a coach, you will inspire girls to have a lifetime of self-respect and a healthy lifestyle through an innovative program that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk race with a fun, health education lesson plan. The team consists of 2-3 coaches and up to 16 girls.

The season runs March 5 through May 18th culminating in a Denver 5k. There are two 90 minute practices per week after school (days to be determined based on coach availability).

Visit for more information. If we do not have any volunteer coaches, we will not be able to offer the middle school program this spring. If you are interested in this opportunity or have questions, please email Tami Pippert at
