Hello Stargate Families,

It is hard to believe we are only a week away from finals. I am proud of our students and staff for working so hard this semester. Please join me in encouraging our students to finish strong.

As this is the last Cable Connection newsletter before Winter Break, I want to wish you Happy Holidays and hope you are able to enjoy time with family and friends during the break.

Rise above,

Secondary Finals December 17-20

In an effort to maximize student success and minimize student stress and anxiety, our finals schedule is spread-out over four days and, as indicated in our school calendar published last spring, December 18, December 19, and December 20 will be half days (8:15 am - 11:30 am). This schedule allows students to have no more than two finals each day, and extra time to prepare for finals/decompress in the afternoon on December 18 and December 19. Please make arrangements for your student to be picked up by noon on December 18, December 19 and December 20. Also remember that students do not have class on Friday, December 21. Please access the detailed finals schedule here.

Secondary School Finals Expectations
Core subjects - It is the expectation that every core class (math, science, social studies, and English) give an assessment during their designed time during finals week. Assessments may include a project, presentation, paper or exam.
Elective subjects -  A final assessment may be given at teacher discretion, but is not required of all electives teachers to administer a final. Assessments may include a project, presentation, paper or exam.

Parent/Guardian tips for Finals Week
1. Be sure your student has a balance of studying and down time leading up to and during Finals Week
2. Help ensure your student is getting plenty of sleep
3. Help ensure your student eats a healthy, balanced breakfast each morning
4. Send a healthy snack that your student can eat between finals each morning

High School Study Night December 13

On Thursday, December 13th, National Honor Society is hosting a Study Night in the Secondary Commons from 4:00pm-6:00pm for high school students! Many teachers will also be there to help students study and answer questions. Peer tutors will also be working to give additional help. Hot cocoa and snacks will be available for sale.

Finals Week Stress Relief!

The counseling department is excited to provide a stress relieving area for students during finals week!

Every day (except Tuesday): we will have dim lights, games, coloring, bubbles and other stress relieving items in the college center for student respite.

Monday, Dec 17th, we will have hot chocolate during lunch.

On Tuesday, Dec 18th, Denver Pet Partners will be coming to Stargate with their therapy animals. We say animals because it includes dogs, cats, and bunnies! The therapy animals will be housed in the College Center that day, there will be two shifts of animals and handlers so the animals don't get overwhelmed. Denver Pet Partners has requested that there are no more than 3 individuals with a therapy animal at a time, this will help minimize the likelihood of of the animals becoming overwhelmed. If any of the animals begin to get overwhelmed, we may need to ask students to leave the college center for a period of time.

We want to ensure the safety of our students, therefore  if your student has an animal allergy please have your student avoid the college center for the day. We will then clean the college center thoroughly after the animals have left.

On Wednesday,  Dec 19th & Thursday, Dec 20th will have snacks available!

Interest in being a Girls on the Run Coach for 6-8 Grade Girls?

Stargate middle school Girls on the Run program (Heart & Sole) is in need of 2-3 volunteer coaches. As a coach, you will inspire girls to have a lifetime of self-respect and a healthy lifestyle through an innovative program that combines training for a 3.1 mile run/walk race with a fun, health education lesson plan. The team consists of 2-3 coaches and up to 16 girls.

The season runs March 5 through May 18th culminating in a Denver 5k. There are two 90 minute practices per week after school (days to be determined based on coach availability).

Visit for more information. If we do not have any volunteer coaches, we will not be able to offer the middle school program this spring. If you are interested in this opportunity or have questions, please email Tami Pippert at

Global Studies Trip to South America Information Meeting

At Stargate School, we strive to provide our students with a variety of opportunities to learn outside of the classroom and travel the world. As our world becomes increasingly interconnected, it is critical for our students to become more culturally aware, explore new ideas, and grow their potential. That is why I am pleased to announce next summer I will be offering students the chance to bring their lessons to life

We will be going on an adventure trip to Peru summer of 2020. Students will explore Peru’s rich culture and its amazing scenery. On this trip they will explore vibrant cultures and shape their perspectives of the world.

Imagine your child experiencing a life-changing journey as they watch their studies come to life. The impact of travel extends beyond Stargate; this experience will help set your student apart when they apply to college or start their future career.

SENORA WILSON will be hosting an informational meeting on Tuesday, December 11th at 6:30 pm at Stargate to provide more details and answer any questions you may have.  Students will be able to enroll at the end of the meeting. There is limited space on this trip, and spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please RSVP for informational meeting here
