Curriculum Night

Tuesday, August 29th is curriculum night. From 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, parents/guardians will go to  your student’s classes for eight minutes each to hear from each teacher. There will be a Middle School Parent/Guardian orientation from 5:30 - 6:00 pm and a High School parent/guardian orientation from 7:30 - 8:00 pm. As the focus of this event is for parents/guardians, students do not need to attend. Please bring a copy of your student’s schedule. If your Middle School student has an “A” day and “B” day class during one of the periods, meet in Room 155 during that period to talk with those teachers. If your High School student has an “Off” period, you are welcome to spend that time in the Commons.

Middle School MAPS Assessments

All middle school students are taking reading and math NWEA MAPS assessment in their Connect (formerly Advisory) through September 8th. These MAP assessments are normed assessments that will provide us with information regarding the effectiveness of our curriculum and instruction and provide families a snapshot of how their student is doing among their grade level peers. Students will take reading and math MAPS assessments again in the spring so we can measure growth over the course of the year.  Please continue to remind your student to bring their computer to school charged and ready for testing.

Middle School Overnight Field Trips

All middle school grades have an overnight field trip scheduled during the week of September 11th. Our 6th grade will go to Keystone Science School, split in two groups, one group going Sept. 11th - Sept. 13th and the other group Sept. 13th - Sept. 15th. Our 7th grade will go to Cheley Camp Sept. 11th - Sept. 13. Our 8th grade will go to Cheley Camp Sept. 13th - Sept. 15th. If your student needs to take medication on the field trip, it is due to the Health Office by Friday, September 1, with all doctor forms.

All Secondary Tailgate September 9

Middle and High School student and families please join the National Honor Society September 9th from 10am-2pm for the first annual Stargate Tailgate! The focus in Adroit is developing the Design Thinking mindset within our students and community. Design Thinking is a set of skills that prepares students to solve large, complex, cross-curricular, real world problems by teaching them effective ways of thinking and collaborating.  As we start the school year off fresh, we will be needing materials to be repurposed. A big part of innovation is seeing new ways to use ordinary items, or ways to combine old ideas in a new way. Having lots of cheap objects with many aspects and features makes for much more interesting designs than having things with specific stock functions:expensive wheels, hinges, motors, etc. During the course of the year we will be needing low-resolution materials and other handy items to prototype and bring our ideas to life! Click here for a list of items needed for Adroit (both Middle and High School lists are the same)

College Case Study Night 11th Grade Students & Parents

On Tuesday September 5th Stargate Counseling will be hosting a Case Study night for 11th grade families from 6:00-8:00pm in the secondary building. A case study night will allow students and parents to experience the application process through the eyes of a college or university. There will be six college representatives here that evening running small group sessions. We highly encourage you and your student to attend!
