Updated Sports Schedules

Community Website-Master Events Calendar, Important Announcements, School Information, Staff Directory

Hello Stargate families,

Last Friday at our high school assembly, I spoke to the students about the idea of creating conditions that help lead to success. In other words, being purposeful to make decisions regarding details you can control. Then, I shared how this idea relates to testing this week. Please join us in reinforcing this idea with your student by encouraging them to do the following:

  1. Get a good night sleep before each testing day.

  2. Eat a healthy breakfast and drink a big glass of water the morning of each testing day.

  3. Show up prepared. For middle school students, this includes coming to school with a fully charged computer and power cord. For high school students, this includes bringing a calculator that has fresh batteries.

  4. Arrive at school early with plenty of time to get to the testing room and not feel rushed.

Testing is valuable because it allows each student the opportunity to demonstrate how much they have learned. Also, it allows Stargate to collectively show our community our academic excellence. Thank you for your help in encouraging your student to create conditions that will maximize their success.

Rise above,

Rob

MATHCOUNTS

Stargate’s Middle School MATHCOUNTS team closed out its season by sending ten members to the State competition on Saturday, March 23rd, at the University of Denver.  Comprising the top math students in Colorado, a total of 168 students from 56 schools competed.  Only one other school had as many students qualify for the competition as did Stargate.

Stargate’s team of 8th graders Jeremy Huang and Allison Xin, 7th grader Tamsin Horne, and 6th grader Valerie Xin took 8th place in the team competition.  In the individual competition Jeremy placed 16th.  Also representing Stargate were 8th graders Sibi Sivaram and David Thumma, 7th graders Nick Hofer, Pranav Konijeti, and Ryan Marx, and 6th grader Vincent Stone.

This year’s team did an outstanding job throughout all the competitions this year.  Team members spent many hours in practices learning new math concepts and improving their speed at completing problems.  Ken Haney, the team’s coach, greatly appreciates the team’s dedication and the tremendous support provided all season by the team’s parents.
