Curriculum Night

Thank you to all who were able to attend Curriculum Night a few weeks ago. We received positive feedback that parents enjoyed going through their students daily schedule and hearing from all their student’s teachers.

Field Trips

Our 7th grade students and chaperones are currently at Cheley Camp, and our 8th grade students are ready to go on Wednesday. Thanks to all the teachers and parent chaperones for making this a great week for our students.

Our high school students had great college visits a few weeks ago. Our freshman went to Metropolitan State University and had sessions with a MSU teacher, counselor, and dean. They also heard from a Stanford interviewer, who discussed the process for highly selective universities. Our sophomores visited CU Boulder and were introduced to CU’s degree programs and what the campus had to offer regarding student life, activities, academics and passion areas.

We have several field trips coming up over the next month. Specific information and a permission slip  for each trip will be coming home with your students. Please remember to cancel your student’s lunch at least 48 hours in advance if you have ordered it for a field trip day.

Our field trips are outlined below:

  • 7th Grade - Camp Cheley October 3rd-5th

  • 8th Grade - Camp Cheley October 5th-7th

  • 6th, 7th, 8th - October 28th is an all middle school field trip day (information for each grade level trip will be coming home shortly)

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/teacher conferences will be open house format on Oct. 12th and 13th from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Please plan to attend one of these evenings to talk one-on-one with your student’s teachers. Conferences will take place in the Secondary Commons, the Adroit room, and the College Counseling Center.

Our Community Relations Committee would like your help in supplying Stargate teachers with healthy, delicious meals & snacks to work through two evenings of Parent Conferences with few breaks!

Not able to bring food, but would still like to help?  Please consider dropping off a donation for supplies & food purchases at the front desk.

Windsock Day

Tomorrow, Tuesday October 4, 2016, we will have a practice wind sock day! A windsock day is an Inside Day when the wind chill/temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit or heavy precipitation is present. Students will be directed to enter the school through the main entrances and proceed directly to the commons. Colorful windsocks will be displayed at different locations around the school to indicate that conditions exist for an windsock day.  Please do not park on Tuesday the 4th, just stay in the loop and drop your child off at the front of their building. This will not be a large change for the secondary building, but will greatly impact the elementary building and drop off around 8:00 am may look different. Please be patient as we test this process prior to winter.

Secondary Friday Pizza Day Volunteers

We are in need of parent volunteers to help prepare and serve food to our students on Fridays.  The hours will be 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.  If you are interested, please sign up HERE on the day(s) that will work best for you. Thank you for your support!

Donations for Adroit

Our Adroit program is off to a great start this year. Students have been exposed to initial steps in the design thinking process, including community/global awareness, brainstorming,  and prototyping. Students have also had sessions on college and career planning, navigating giftedness, anxiety management, organization, time management, perfectionism, interviewing skills, empathy development, and grit. In the near future we will be working on tool training, creativity and curiosity in addition to continued exploration of the topics previously introduced.

We have started working with students to identify passion project ideas and we need help from our community to make some of these ideas reality. While many of our students’ passion projects will not require specific materials, a few of them will require additional items. We will soon be looking for the following donations:

  • Electronics - VCRs, walkmans, video cameras, cameras, computers (no monitors or TVs),

  • Hand tools (hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, levels, etc.)

  • Small electric tools (drills, saws, etc.)
