C-Notes  November 7, 2016

Fall Play - What a phenomenal group of young actors and crew we have at Stargate. A huge THANK YOU to Mr. Sergeeff for his creative vision and all of the students who participated in our first high school production. Over 500 attendees saw The 39 Steps during the three days of the show. I hear a musical may be in the works next!

Thank you to the Community Relations Committee for their wonderful planning, organization and execution of the Harvest Hoedown & Chili Cook-Off last Saturday! Once again they knocked it out of the park! They are ALWAYS looking for volunteers so please email crc@stargateschool.org to get involved!

Election Day - Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, November 8, Ms. Krill’s 8th grade US History classes will be hosting a mock election for grades 3-10.  Our students are very excited to ‘Pick the President’!

Kids on the Move

Rithvik Krishnan, a 5th grader in Mrs. Rader's class, has received his first degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do/Tang Soo Do. He has been training in martial arts for 5 years.

Congratulations to Stargate Athletes Jacey Carlson, Brooke Stevenson, and Haylee Silva(Thornton High School) and Jaylee Chase (Broomfield High School) for their participation in last week’s 5A State Gymnastics meet. Thornton came in 7th place and Broomfield took 3rd place.

Abby Baker and Olivia Potter are performing in Northglenn Youth Theatre's Doctor Dolittle starting November 11th and running for 2 weekends.   This will be a great family event that our families would enjoy and supports our hardworking kids.

Here is  the link:   Check Out Dr. Dolittle - The Musical | Northglenn Web Site

No Shave November - Throw out your razors and join the Stargate staff as we raise awareness for prostate cancer. Men and Women are encouraged to join us as we donate the money we would have spent on our razors and shaving cream to cancer research! I apologize in advance for the hairiness!

Adams 12 Bond - The Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education approved the placement of a $350 million bond on the November ballot at no tax rate increase to residents. The 2016 Bond proposal (Ballot Issue 3D) provides funding to Adams 12 Five Star Schools and will impact every student, school and community.  A bond is a voter-approved funding source that is used for capital improvements such as building repairs or new schools and cannot be used for salary or operational needs. The funding that Stargate received for our expansion was from private bonds that we must pay back out of our operating dollars over the next 30 years. If the Bond passes Stargate will receive over $5.1 million dollars that we could use toward additional improvements and upgrades to our new campus.

Admission Season is Here -   November marks the beginning of Admissions for the 2017-2018 school year for our school. We offer weekly tours and a variety of prospective parent nights for interested families. Please direct anyone who may be interested to our admission site.

Fundraising Committee News

Stargate Annual Campaign Kick-off!

In our 22nd year of operation, we opened the doors this year to the largest gifted school in the state of Colorado – a stunning $51 million campus. The heart of Stargate remains unchanged – to combine the best efforts of parents, students and staff to provide a unique educational opportunity focused on the specialized needs of our gifted children. Every Stargate family and loyal supporter has an opportunity to assist Stargate as we venture forward with this bold vision by contributing to the Stargate Annual Campaign.

Stargate, as a charter school, receives funding provided through Federal, State and local District funds based on enrollment levels on a per pupil basis. In Colorado, charter schools receive less than 100% of the funds allocated to their traditional counterparts for school operations. This equates to approximately 20% less per student at Stargate. Stargate has three major fundraising efforts: (1) the Annual Campaign, (2) the Fall Fundraiser, and (3) the Spring Gala. All three fundraising efforts must be successful to meet the difference. The Stargate Annual Campaign is an opportunity to show your support by making a one-time gift OR setting up a monthly contribution using our secure, online donation page accessible from the Stargate Fundraising webpage. Please consider a tax deductible donation of $300 per family as an investment in future programs and technology that will benefit our children for years to come.  Make an online, secure donation today here.

Stargate Spirit Wear sale ends on Thursday, 11/10.

Reminder!  Spiritwear sales will wrap up this week.  Please have your orders turned in by this Thursday, Nov 10th.  Samples are hanging in the K-5 front office and are labeled with sizes, so please check them out!!  Delivery is planned for the week of Dec 12th. Order forms and info located here.

"Opt In" for a digital Stargate Gala 2017 invitation!

We are preparing invitations for our  February 11, 2017 Stargate Gala at The Omni Interlocken Resort. We are once again offering the option to receive an electronic invitation rather than a printed invitation in the mail. This reduces our cost for printing and delivery and is environmentally friendly! Click the link below and complete the form to opt in to receive an electronic invitation to the Gala. Please respond by  Friday, November 11th to opt in.

Opt-Out of Mailed Invitations for the 2017 Stargate Gala
