Inspiring Success in the Minds and Hearts of Gifted Children since 1994

C Notes 11/28/16

Welcome Back! I sincerely hope that everyone had a wonderful week off and enjoyed some quality time with loved ones (or in laws 😂). We at Stargate have a lot to be thankful for and you all are a major part of our happiness! We are so thankful to have this new campus to provide wonderful educational opportunities to your kiddos! We are thankful to be able to serve 1154 gifted students! We are thankful for lockers and the traffic loop working more efficiently! We are also thankful the voters passed the Adams 12 Bond which means we can make our wonderful new campus even better (with your help of course!)

We have an abundance of night events happening over the next three weeks. Please feel free to park in the Hug and Go Lane during night and after school events if the other parking lots are full.

Lost and Found items will be donated to some wonderful organizations on December 15th. Please stop by and pick up your lost coats, hats, lunch boxes and pokemon cards!

Windsock Days - Reminder that if the weather is below 20°F or too wet to be outside we will display beautiful Bronco windsocks at each entrance to our school. This indicates that you are encouraged to just drop your child off to enter the front of their building.

With the successful passage of the Adams 12 Bond, we will have over $5 million dollars that can be spent on Capital Construction needs. The money cannot be spent on paying for our existing building or on staff salaries/benefits. The governance board and I would love your feedback as to what type of capital construction needs you would like for Stargate to invest in. We will hold a community engagement night on January 11th at 5:30PM in the Secondary Commons. If you are unable to attend the 11th, please feel free to submit ideas electronically by clicking here.

K-5 Saturday Basketball at Stargate - Want to play basketball in an environment that allows for fun and excitement? Beginning January 21 2017, we will continue our tradition (15th year in a row!) of a providing a basketball league for K - 5th grade boys and girls at Stargate.  If you are interested in participating, please click here to complete the following by January 6, 2017.   All practices and games will be held in the Stargate School Field House.  Fee is $30 if you already have a jersey and $50 if you do not have a jersey paid by cash or check payable to Stargate.  Practices and games will be on Saturdays for all players.  K-2nd grade will play from 8am-9:15am and 3rd-5th grade will play from 9:30am-10:45am.  We will play every Saturday through March 11th (No games Feb 18th).  Our ability to manage this activity and the number of students we can take will depend upon the amount of parent involvement. Parent volunteer coaches are crucial to this great experience for our kids and we need all the help we can get!

Tuesday November 29th is Global Gives Day!  You may recall receiving a letter in the mail detailing ways your support could greatly impact Stargate's future through our Annual Campaign. When you make a philanthropic gift to Stargate, you help:

  • Provide opportunities to deserving students

  • Raise Stargate's national reputation

  • Provide funds that are not restricted like Bond dollars

  • Stimulate innovation by furthering our Adroit and Design Thinking Program

Talented students and staff members are empowered to achieve greatness when they have the tools, resources and facilities to bring ideas to life. Donate today to ensure Stargate’s future success. Your gift, regardless of its size, has a tremendous impact on Stargate and our Eagles. Thank you for your consideration.

Have a great Week!

Stargate Annual Campaign – Giving Tuesday 11/29

In our 22nd year of operation, we opened the doors this year to the largest gifted school in the state of Colorado – a stunning $51 million campus. The heart of Stargate remains unchanged – to combine the best efforts of parents, students and staff to provide a unique educational opportunity focused on the specialized needs of our gifted children. Every Stargate family and loyal supporter has an opportunity to assist Stargate as we venture forward with this bold vision by contributing to the Stargate Annual Campaign.

Stargate, as a charter school, receives funding provided through Federal, State and local District funds based on enrollment levels on a per pupil basis. In Colorado, charter schools receive less than 100% of the funds allocated to their traditional counterparts for school operations. This equates to approximately 20% less per student at Stargate. Stargate has three major fundraising efforts: (1) the Annual Campaign, (2) the Fall Fundraiser, and (3) the Spring Gala. All three fundraising efforts must be successful to meet the difference. The Stargate Annual Campaign is an opportunity to show your support by making a one-time gift OR setting up a monthly contribution using our secure, online donation page accessible from the Stargate Fundraising webpage. Please consider a tax deductible donation of $300 per family as an investment in future programs and technology that will benefit our children for years to come.  Make an online, secure donation today here.

State Bees are held March 31, 2017 & the National Championship will be held May 15 - 17.
