C-Notes attached.

C Notes September 12, 2016 Together We Rise

As many of you may have already heard, a bus carrying members of the Legacy High School football team was involved in an accident early Sunday evening. Both the junior varsity and varsity teams were returning home from the airport after a football game in California. From what we know, none of the students have critical injuries. Fifteen students were taken to metro area hospitals and most have been released to their families; those remaining are currently in stable condition. Students who were not injured returned to Legacy High School and were released to their families. Three of Legacy's coaches sustained significant injuries and are being treated at local hospitals. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the Legacy High School family and offer our heartfelt condolences to the family of the bus driver who tragically passed away.

Last Thursday our contractor laid sod in our quad area between both buildings. The new grass needs a few weeks to set before we can let our community walk and play on it. In the meantime, please stay on the sidewalks as you walk between buildings and encourage your children to do the same.

Our Middle School and High School sports are in full swing! To stay up to date on games and schedules, please visit our Athletics Page and Athletics Calendar.

I also wanted to invite parents and community members to our first C offee with C of the year on September 14th at 8:45AM. This is a chance for community members to engage with other parents, our Administrative team, meet our new School Resource Officer and ask questions about happenings at our school. The first Coffee with C will be in our Secondary Building 9/14/16 8:45AM in our new Adroit Space.

Traffic Update
Please reference Loop version 3.0. and see this important update from our safety expert Doug Ryan.
1. This is for parking and walking kids in only.
2. Get to sidewalk safely and do not walk in the middle of the driveway. Use sidewalks when you can and make your way to the designated crosswalks. We spent a lot of money putting in big ankle twisting boulders to prevent people from darting out in the main drop off lanes.
3. When returning to your car use the same crosswalk to get back to your car.
4. Secondary students can also use this as PARKING and letting kids out. Please inform them to use the crosswalk and don't cut through the ankle twisting boulders of death.
1. This is DROP OFF AND PICK UP ONLY. Stay in your car, have your kids ready to get out of the car once you are stopped. This should be a quick process with no one need more than 1530
seconds. If you have to get out of the car please use the Green Zone.
2. When dropping off pull as far forward as you can and try to have your kids exit the vehicle on the passenger's side. You can pull up as far as there is sidewalk between both buildings and kids can walk to their individual school.
4. Try to come a little early even on windsock days. ESPECIALLY ON WINDSOCK DAYS.
5. Make sure kids are ready to exit the car as quickly as possible. Make sure they have finished breakfast, have all their cloths on and are ready for school. Blow kisses and get em out. MAKE SURE YOU STOP FIRST. The drop and roll thing comes when they hit high school. You'll understand later.
1. Before school a crossing guard will stand in the crosswalk and cross large groups of pedestrians. Please watch for the stop sign as you approach the back of the building.
2. Please have your kids exit car before and move to the sidewalk as quickly as possible. Wait for a crossing guard to cross them.
3. Cross only at the crosswalk and no dropping off in the crosswalk.
4. Please do not block through lanes and disrupt flow to the exit. If you stop to pick up make sure cars can get around you so exit flow is not disrupted.
We are only 3 weeks into the year so more little tweaks will be sure to come. Please follow these little tips and I'm sure it will get better.
Always be patient positive and safe!!!
Doug Ryan

The online websites are: www.APMags.com or www.lovefundraising.com and the school ID is: HelpStargate. We appreciate your support of this critical fundraiser we could not do it without you! Questions? Email fundraising at fundraising@stargateschool.org .

The winning class for each category (Box Tops and Longmont Dairy Milk Caps) will earn a party of their choice: Ice Cream Sundaes or Root Beer Floats. Careful cutting and examination of expiration dates is appreciated as are clean milk caps!

Dining “In” Night
We’ll be hosting a Dine “In” Night with Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ on Thursday, September 29 th . With this fundraiser you can preorder a Jim 'N Nick's Family Meal (feeds 34) to be picked up on Thursday, September 29th at Stargate. We’ll be sending home and posting preorder forms online; simply make your selections, include a check (written out to Stargate) or cash, and return to the front office or to your child’s teacher. Your meal will be waiting for you at pickup time and Stargate will earn $$ for each meal ordered.

King Soopers Reloadable Gift Card program
Reloadable King Soopers and Safeway gift cards will be available for purchase during curriculum night. The King Soopers cards are preloaded with $5.00. Every time you reload the card King Soopers or Safeway will donate 5% of the reloaded amount to Stargate (at no cost to you). You can even reload directly at the register before you purchase your items. Use the cards to do your grocery shopping or purchase gas to support your school while you shop. Last April we made $1470 for the reloadable King Soopers cards and in August we made $800. This is one of the easiest ways to help Stargate earn $$!!!

Sign up to support Stargate by using AmazonSmile (go to: smile.amazon.com and Sign up ). AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support Stargate every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com , you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization(0.5% of all qualifying purchases will go back to our school). It's fast, easy and links directly to your current Amazon account. You use the same account on Amazon.com and AmazonSmile. Your shopping cart, Wish List, wedding or baby registry, and other account settings are also the same. On your first visit to AmazonSmile ( smile.amazon.com ), you need to select a charitable organization (“Stargate”) to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. AmazonSmile will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make at smile.amazon.com will result in a donation.

Upcoming Election Fall 2016 We Need Your Vote!
Fall elections will be held from Sept. 19 through Sept. 26, 2016 to fill 3 open parent seats on the Stargate Accountability Committee. Voting opens Monday, Sept 19 and ends at 4 p.m. on Sept. 26.

When will I receive my ballot?
Your online ballot instructions will be delivered on/around Sept. 19. If you have a child in the Elementary school, ballot information will be delivered via your Monday folder. If you have a child in the Secondary school, ballot information will be delivered via U.S. mail. If you have a child in both schools, ballot distribution usually aligns with your youngest child.

Where do I vote?
Stargate utilizes a webbased, online voting system called Simply Voting to manage our elections securely and in a way that’s convenient for parents. You can vote online via your computer, tablet or smartphone using the unique login credentials included in the voting instructions you’ll receive.

Where can I find candidate information?
We post candidate information online a few days before the election starts. You’ll find bios, Q&A responses and more candidate information at: http://charter.stargateschool.org/elections

What if I have additional questions?
Visit the election webpage (link above) or email electioncommittee@stargateschool.org

Don’t Forget to VOTE!
Thanks again for being flexible and helping us to keep our kids and community members safe while we are on campus.
