Now Accepting Applications for Open Board Seat

The Stargate Board of Directors is now accepting applications to fill a vacated parent board seat. Interested applicants should complete an online application no later than Monday, Nov. 12 at 5:00 pm. As part of the process, all of those that apply will be interviewed by the Board prior to a vote during the next Board meeting (Wednesday, Nov 28 at 6:00 pm). The successful applicant will serve until the next election (May 2019). At that time the appointed position will enter the election and a candidate will be elected to complete the remaining term.

Finance Committee Seeking Volunteers

The Stargate Finance Committee is in need of volunteer members.  The Finance Committee has oversight regarding the School’s budgets and financial statements, as well as the independent accounting firm’s qualifications and independence.

The Board met on October 17th for their regular business meeting. Below are the highlights of the meeting:

Operations Reports:

        Lynne Allen, Director of Finance and Operations –  Ms. Allen provided an update on the finance KPIs, the annual audit and proposed minor edits to the admissions policies to update important contact information.

        Rob Cable, Secondary Principal and Missy Hischke, Elementary Principal - Reported on teacher conferences, awards presentations, admissions season and college informational visits.

OCR & Investigations Update:

        Elizabeth Williams reviewed the OCR tracking chart and noted the items on which we are waiting for an OCR response and a review of the remaining outstanding items.

·         Resolution in support of Amendment 73

·         2018-2019 Community Handbook

·         2018-2019 Board Meeting Calendar

Additional detail on the above items will be available in the formal minutes which will be reviewed and approved at the next Board meeting.  Once approved, minutes are posted to the Governance Website HERE.

The next Regular Board meeting will be held on November 28 at 6:00pm in the Stargate Performing Arts Auditorium.
