A big thank you to Rachelle Czarnecki and Jean Farr, the school librarians, for hosting a raffle during the Grand Opening Ceremonies. The Raffle Winner of the newest Land of Stories: An Author's Odyssey book, signed by author Chris Colfer, goes to 5th grader, Rhea Masand. Thank you to everyone who helped support the library and this raffle!

Testing/Placements
Thank you to the students and teachers for their hard work to get all the various assessments completed over the past week and a half. They have been taking both formal and informal assessments in reading, writing, and mathematics to ensure the students are appropriately placed in literacy and math.

This week our staff will begin initial placements for students’ literacy and math classes. By Friday, you will receive notification of your student’s placements so you can visit with their teachers during Curriculum Night.

Within the next few weeks, all students in Kindergarten will be given the MAPS assessments in both reading and math and the first and second grade students will take the math MAPS assessment.

Student placements are based on multiple data points and we appreciate your support and flexibility as we work towards the best needsbased ability groups possible.

Curriculum Night September 12
Curriculum Night is a great opportunity to meet your student’s teachers and hear about what they will learn during the school year. We look forward to seeing you!
● 5:00 6:00 PM Kindergarten and 3/4
● 6:30 7:30 PM 1/2 and 5th

Picture Day September 14
Picture Day for K5 students is scheduled for September 14. For those who are new to Stargate there are typically two different picture days during the school year. In the Fall, students take individual pictures and then in the Spring, class photos will be taken with homeroom classes. Order information will be sent home next Monday, September 12.

WATCH D.O.G.S. Program
We are excited to launch our WATCH D.O.G.S. Program for 20162017 school year! Several parents have expressed interest in the program and we would like to invite all Dads to attend an orientation meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 29 at 5:30 in the Secondary Building Commons. There will be a brief overview of the program and overall expectations, a tour of the buildings on campus, and pizza will be served. We hope to see you all there. The online signup system will be ready after the meeting for those that would like to volunteer. Please review the link below for more information about the WATCH D.O.G.S. Program. http://www.fathers.com/watchdogs/

Talent Show
The Elementary K5 Talent Show, hosted by Mr. Osburn, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 27 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. We hope you will be able to attend and support all of our talented
students.

Loop Reminders
Morning dropoff has improved over the past week and a half! We would like to remind all K5 parents in the Hug and Go lane to pull up in front of the building to use the entire curb. Thank you in advance as this will continue to help with the flow of traffic.

We Build! We Rise!
