Mr. Osburn

About Me

I graduated in 1995 with a BA from Metropolitan State College. I am certified to teach K-12 Music and K-6 Elementary Education. I hold a graduate certificate from CSU in K-6 Kodaly Music Methodology. Currently, I'm finishing up GT certification through Adams State University. This is my 18th year of teaching at Stargate, making me the longest serving Stargate staff member!  I have played keyboards, guitar, bass and sang professionally for over twenty seven years. In the 1990s, I did two world tours for the Department of Defense with my family band, “The Osburns. I also performed as a magician at the Colorado Renaissance Festival from 1997-2002. In the fall of 2016 I received a patent for the game, "Music Theory Casino Fundamentals Game."

What I Love about Teaching
My favorite thing about teaching is helping to empower students to be independent thinkers and doers.

Other important information:
Dear Stargate Parent,
Hello and welcome to a great year here at Stargate!  My name is Rodney Osburn and I'm the General Music, Choir, Guitar and Rock Band Teacher for grades K-5.  Enclosed in the letter is a copy of my classroom rules, which helps to insure that all children who participate in Music have an enjoyable and meaningful experience.  Please look these over with your child, making sure they understand the reason for having such rules.  I, too, will be going over the rules with them during the first week of the trimester.
General Music, Choir, Guitar* and Rock Band will be fun and exciting subjects for all students.  In addition to the day-to-day activities, students will perform in a concert later this year.  (*For Guitar I a performance is optional.)  Please check future blogs and the master calendar for details about upcoming concerts.  Thanks for your cooperation.
