About Me
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!  I love Stargate and I'm thrilled to be working with your students!  I graduated from the University of New Mexico where I studied American Literature and History.  My primary focus was Creative Writing, and I still love to read and write both fiction and poetry.  It was an intrinsic drive to share that love which brought me to the classroom shortly after graduation!  Since that time, I pursued my teaching credentials and Gifted coursework at the College of Santa Fe.  I moved to Colorado to take a position with the University of Denver in 2007 and immediately knew that I had found my forever home!  I love everything about Denver!  I spend my summers hiking 14ers, fishing, and taking on as many wilderness trails as I can.  I also love the Denver food scene and I love to cook! As much as I love the great outdoors, however, my heart is in fiction!  I have a soft spot in my heart for Stephen King because The Shining was the first book I ever read of my own choosing.  There is something to be said for the empowerment one can find in books!  However, the literary critic in me is forever indebted to John Steinbeck for Grapes of Wrath (and a few more I'll read with my students this year).

My husband, Jason, and I have three children, Tristan (named for Tristan Ludlow) and twin girls, Brooklynn and Sydney.  We're also thrilled that we are welcoming our fourth child, a girl, this August!  Rounding off our family, we have a dog, Pablo Picasso, and a cat, Pippin.
My Personal "Shelfie!"

What I Love about Teaching

I love teaching because I love school!  I may be the only student who never really wanted to graduate.  I kept wishing for a job that would pay me to go to school.  Then, it occurred to me there already was one!  I love to learn and discover.  It didn't take me long into my first year to realize that the best way to constantly increase my own knowledge was to teach others!  I learn as much from my students as they learn from me, and sometimes even more! Teaching is inspirational, motivational, purposeful, and invigorating every single day and I cannot imagine anything else I like to do or could do any better!
