    About Me

This is my fifth year at Stargate! I absolutely love teaching kindergarten and, besides being a mom some day, I can't imagine anything else I'd rather do!

After moving from Chicago to Boulder for college, I received my teaching license in elementary education from the University of Colorado at Boulder. In 2015, I completed Stargate's CDE approved two-year induction program, and moved from initial to professional teaching licensure status in Elementary Education K-6. Additionally, I am currently taking graduate courses leading to  a K-12 endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education.  I have spent summers in Ecuador and Bangladesh working with children of various ages. I love that no matter where I am around the world, there remains a joy in children that is pure, beautiful, and brings hope.

This summer I decided to get a little travel companion. Meet Wrigley, my siberian husky pup! <3

What I Love about Teaching

“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.”-Angela Schwindt

I love surrounding myself with little ones, specifically in the classroom. I love the questions they ask, the stories they tell, the excitement and eagerness they have when they are learning new things and the exploration that follows.  I love watching their process from confusion or uncertainty to figuring something out- those “ah hah” moments. I love watching them soak new things in like a sponge and that there is always something new to teach. I love the constant challenge that teaching is- always an opportunity to strive to be better.

Specifically, I love teaching kindergarten because we are the first elementary grade teachers to make an impact on our students.  It is my passion to be a teacher that instills a lifelong love of learning in the little ones I teach.

Blogging:
I will be creating three blogs (which are highlighted below).  They cover Theme/Homeroom, Literacy and Math.  All of my blogs support RSS, so you can watch just the blogs that interest you by subscribing to them on the blog pages.

Grading:
I keep all grades on Infinite Campus which you can access from the menu.  All other information is on my blogs.

Get to know me more:

Most often, I can be seen with Starbucks in my hand. I try and convince myself I am not addicted, but I am. I love spending time with family and friends, driving with the windows down listening to country music and wearing scarves. I enjoy the little things in life: catching fireflies, dancing in the rain, laughing until my stomach hurts and finding good in everyone.

Quite possibly my favorite quote: "Speak ill of no man, but speak all the good you know of everybody." -Benjamin Franklin

I'm a huge Cubbies fan, hence my dog's name. ;) Grateful I got to see them break that curse in my lifetime!
