Pick-up, Drop-off, and Parking

**Work In Progress**

Loop Traffic 3.0

Please refer to the attached traffic pattern that highlights the flow for pick-up and drop-off. You can download a copy for Loop version 3.0 here.

Please reference Loop version 3.0. and see this important update from our safety expert Doug Ryan.

  1. This is for parking and walking kids in only.
  2. Get to sidewalk safely and do not walk in the middle of the driveway. Use sidewalks when you can and make your way to the designated crosswalks. We spent a lot of money putting in big ankle twisting boulders to prevent people from darting out in the main drop off lanes.
  3. When returning to your car use the same crosswalk to get back to your car.
  4. Secondary students can also use this as PARKING and letting kids out. Please inform them to use the crosswalk and don't cut through the ankle twisting boulders of death.
  1. This is DROP OFF AND PICK UP ONLY. Stay in your car, have your kids ready to get out of the car once you are stopped. This should be a quick process with no one need more than 1530 seconds. If you have to get out of the car please use the Green Zone.
  2. When dropping off pull as far forward as you can and try to have your kids exit the vehicle on the passenger's side. You can pull up as far as there is sidewalk between both buildings and kids can walk to their individual school.
  4. Try to come a little early even on windsock days. ESPECIALLY ON WINDSOCK DAYS.
  5. Make sure kids are ready to exit the car as quickly as possible. Make sure they have finished breakfast, have all their clothes on and are ready for school. Blow kisses and get em out. MAKE SURE YOU STOP FIRST. The drop and roll thing comes when they hit high school. You'll understand later.
  1. Before school, a crossing guard will stand in the crosswalk and cross large groups of pedestrians. Please watch for the stop sign as you approach the back of the building.
  2. Please have your kids exit car before and move to the sidewalk as quickly as possible. Wait for a crossing guard to cross them.
  3. Cross only at the crosswalk and no dropping off in the crosswalk.
  4. Please do not block through lanes and disrupt flow to the exit. If you stop to pick up make sure cars can get around you so exit flow is not disrupted.

We are only 3 weeks into the year so more little tweaks will be sure to come. Please follow these little tips and I'm sure it will get better. Always be patient positive and safe!!!

Doug Ryan

Arrival Times

Students in the K-5th grade Elementary Building can be dropped off as early as 7:45 AM and will enter the building at 7:55 AM. Designated signs will inform families of where students line up. School starts at 8 AM.

Students in our 6th-12th grade Secondary Building may be dropped off as early as 7:45 AM at the front door (southwest) and go to the Commons to wait for the first bell at 8:10 AM. School starts at 8:15 AM.

When Arriving from the South of our Buildings (closest to 144th)

When arriving from the south, you will turn right into our loop and drive eastbound through the loop. Please begin to form two lanes. The lane that is on the right (closest to the curb by each building) is a Hug and Go Lane (drop off only, no parking). Please do not leave your car unattended in the Hug and Go Lane. The lane closest to the parking lots (lane on the left) will be a continuous drive lane. You may merge or change lanes at any time.

There will be one parking entrance for anyone who wishes to park and escort their child to their morning line before school starts. The entry for this lot is closest to the 'quad' (grassy area between all three buildings.) Please observe the crosswalks and be cognizant of students crossing from parking lots to their buildings while driving through the loop.

To exit our campus, please proceed through the traffic loop, past the Secondary Building, past the field house, to the northern-most portion of our property and exit onto Washington at the traffic signal.

When Arriving from the North to the Secondary Building (through the newly installed traffic signal)

When arriving from the north and turn left via the traffic signal, you will make a full loop around the North parking lot only. You will drive past the north side of the Secondary Building, west side of the Field House and exit at the traffic signal. From this entrance, you cannot access the loop closest to the Elementary Building. Families may park in this lot if they wish to walk across the 'quad' to escort their child to their morning line.

When Arriving from the North to the Elementary Building

When arriving from the north proceed straight through at the traffic signal at Washinton and 146th. At the Washinton and 144th intersection, be in in the left most turn lane. Make a U-turn, then an immediate right into the loop. Drivers heading west on 144th have signs advising they must yield to U-turn traffic, however, be careful incase they are not paying attention. Follow the instructions under "Arriving from the South" for navigating the loop.

Afternoon Pick-up - Elementary

Pick-up times are as follows:
  • 2:30 to 2:45pm - Kindergarten (1:30pm on Wednesday)
  • 3 to 3:15pm - 1st - 5th grade (1:30pm on Wednesday)
Families of Kindergarten students must park in our designated lot and pick up their student from the Kindergarten playground. Please do not leave your car unattended in the Hug and Go Lane while retrieving your student. Kindergartners not picked up by 2:45pm, will be placed in the care of our Eagles Landing program and families will be charged accordingly.

1st - 5th grade students will exit the building with their teacher to designated areas in front of the Elementary Building and await parent arrival. Please proceed through the loop to your student's designated line spot (signs will be present to indicate grade level lines). The Hug and Go Lane is also our pick-up lane. Please do not leave your car unattended in the Hug and Go/Pick Up Lane. Students are not to cross into the continuous drive lane to get into a vehicle. You may also park in the designated lot and cross the crosswalk at the corner closest to the front office to retrieve your child in person from their teacher. All students must be picked up by 3:15pm. Elementary students not picked up by3:15pm will be placed in the care of our Eagles Landing program and families will be charged accordingly.

Siblings or those waiting to carpool with a student in the Secondary Building will be directed to the Elementary library to wait until 3:35pm. If you are a family who will be using the library supervision from 3-3:35pm, please click here to register for this service so we may provide the appropriate amount of staff. There will be a $20 monthly charge per student to staff this additional service to families. The students in the Elementary library must be signed out by 3:45pm by either an adult or their Middle/High School sibling.

Afternoon Pick-up - Secondary

Pick-up times are as follows:
  • 3:35pm (2:05 on Wednesday)
Students in grades 6-10 will exit the building and await parent arrival. Please have a plan in place with your middle or high schooler for pick-up. Staff will exit the building with the students to ensure safety during dismissal. The Secondary Building will be open until 4pm each day for students not participating in an extracurricular club or activity to wait in the commons for pick-up. After 4pm all secondary students will be placed in the care of our Eagles Landing program and families will be charged accordingly.

Questions and Reminders

Please be patient as we all learn the new drop-off and pick-up procedures. We ask that you make our students' safety a priority and take the extra time to get them to class safe and sound.

Revised Rules for the Traffic Loop - Aug 26, 2016
The process for pick-up and drop-off is available here. Please do not exit your car, or park in the "loop" in front of the school during pick-up and drop-off. Also, please note different pick-up and drop-off points, and times for each grade.

Traffic Loop Update - Sept. 12

C-Notes October 10, 2016
One recent change you may have noticed is that we are now crossing pedestrians from the parking lot over to the elementary at the corner closest to the K-5 front office. The goal is to have drivers in the Loop (Hug and Go) use the entire length of the loop. Please pull all the way forward and use the Hug and Go lane that spans between both buildings.

Windsock Days
A Windsock Day is an Inside Day when the wind chill/temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit or heavy precipitation is present. Colorful Broncos windsocks will be displayed, two at the south entrance and one at the north entrance. Elementary students will be directed to enter the school through the main entrances and proceed directly to the commons. Please do not park if at all possible, just stay in the loop and drop your child off at the front of their building, nothing changes as far as the loop or parking is concerned, we just want the kids to enter the building as quickly as possible.

Old Building
Traffic Flow: Thank you for your patience with our Drop-Off and Pick-Up. We certainly strive to be efficient and hope that all families follow our procedures during the morning and afternoon. At dismissal, teachers are on duty. Teachers will release students to vehicles at the pick-up curb or to walk-up parents once we have visual confirmation of authorized individuals. Teachers will not release children to cross in front of loop/driveway traffic. Student safety is always a top priority. If you have a question for your teacher, please make an appointment for a mutually convenient time.
  • Do not park in the pick-up or drop-off loop to allow a continuous traffic flow.
  • Do not leave your car unattended in the drop-off/pick-up lane.
  • If you need to get out of your vehicle to assist your student(s), or if you need to speak with someone at drop-off or pick-up time, please park your vehicle in the school lot or other designated areas, including the adjoining Church parking lot.
  • Courteous attention to these procedures contributes to a safe, orderly arrival and dismissal. Check out this informative video to help see the loop through the eyes of one of our students.
  • Students Should NEVER be dropped off or picked up in the 2nd lane of the loop.
