About Ms. McLeod

I graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Philosophy (with a concentration in Eastern Thought) and a minor in Russian from CSU. After I finished my BA, I sold everything I owned, and with a huge pack on my back, I bought a ticket around the world and spent about 2 years traveling. I married, worked the corporate world, had children, and began volunteering in the classroom. My association with Stargate goes back to 2000, when my son was admitted.  My daughter began her school career with the inaugural kindergarten class. Both have since graduated, but I will always be forever grateful to Stargate for being a place my children could be true to themselves and become fully who they are. This is my eleventh year teaching at Stargate. I have since completed my Masters of Art in Curriculum and Instructional Design from CCU, and have received my Gifted and Talented Specialist Endorsement.

What I Love about Teaching

I grew up in a family of teachers: parents, grandparents, aunts, and siblings. What is ironic is even though, in my childhood years, I couldn’t wait to get home from school every day and “play school” (me as teacher) with my siblings, I never gave a thought about going into elementary education. It wasn’t until I had children of my own and began volunteering in the classroom that I realized my true vocational calling. I fell in love with being in the classroom, surrounded by those beautiful, inquiring minds. I felt compelled to go back to school and pursue my teaching credentials. Teaching and learning with my students has enriched my life in immeasurable ways, but most of all, I am honored to be a part of the growth and learning of my students.

About Elementary Adroit:
The Adroit program K-5 will be a combination of makerspace and design thinking. Design Thinking is a human-centered solution finding pedagogy out of the DSchool at Stanford. Its foundation is empathy and students engage in a process of inquiry, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Students will practice transforming their ideas into reality. Please visit my website at https://sites.google.com/a/stargateschool.org/ms-mcleod/
I will be posting blogs periodically containing more specific information about weekly activities.

I keep all grades on Infinite Campus which you can access from the menu.  All other information is on my blogs.
