About Me

I am very excited to be partnering with Mrs. Martinac and the 2nd grade team at Stargate for the 2018-2019 school year. It feels great to be a part of such a wonderful school and learning community.  This will be my second year at Stargate and ninth year teaching.

I was born and raised in California but have called Colorado home for the last 4 years. Upon graduating from UCLA with a degree in Economics, I earned my CPA license and began my career in audit and financial reporting. I earned my multiple subjects teaching credential and my masters degree in teaching (with an emphasis on educational technology) in 2007 and 2008, respectively. My previous teaching experience was in middle school math and science while my student teaching experience was in the 1st, 2nd, and 5th grades.

It is my mission to encourage and foster a love for learning upon my students. This includes life skills as well as the academic curriculum. By demonstrating my own passion for learning, it is my wish to develop a desire for lifelong learning amongst the students.  Through differentiated instruction, it is my goal to see each student grow to their fullest potential. My classroom environment will be based on the three B’s (Be respectful, Be responsible, and Be ready to learn), empathy, and tolerance; where students feel safe and supported to take risks and make mistakes.

With cooperative efforts from the teacher, student, and families we will have an engaging and successful year! As a team, we can make this year a positive and memorable experience.

What I Love about Teaching

For me, education has the power to be the great equalizer. Regardless of your socioeconomic background, if you educate yourself, you can achieve success. It is an honor and privilege to have an opportunity to make an impact on our youth.

Blogging:

I will be creating two blogs (which are highlighted below).  They cover Literacy and Math.  All of my blogs support RSS, so you can watch just the blogs that interest you by subscribing to them on the blog pages. It is the elementary school policy to have our blogs updated by the end of the day on Mondays.

Grading:

I keep all grades on Infinite Campus which you can access from the menu. If an *m is entered as the score, the assignment is missing. If the score is blank, the assignment grade has not yet been entered. If you have any questions or concerns about grades, feel free to contact me by email.
