Miss Bolger

All About Miss Bolger:

Well hello there! I'm Katie Bolger and this 2018-2019 school year will be my seventh year teaching at Stargate, but my ninth year teaching gifted students. Each year gets better and better, especially as I get to know more students and families! I love teaching here at Stargate because I get to have fun and learn so much from my wonderful teammates and students everyday. I have also been an assistant teacher for two years at The Logan School for Creative Learning in Denver. Prior to my teaching career, I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where I had the opportunity to study in Spain for five months. While in Spain, I taught a kindergarten class and learned to speak Spanish. I graduated in 2009 with a B.A. in psychology and a teaching certificate in elementary education. My other recent educational pursuits include: earning my Gifted Education Specialist endorsement and, this fall, beginning a Master's program in Curriculum and Instruction with a reading and writing emphasis and reading endorsement at CU-Denver! Some of my recent passion areas in the classroom include: design thinking, problem-based learning, social emotional development, and student self-assessment! I absolutely love learning from, teaching, and working with gifted students. It's amazing to observe what can happen when you let students wonder and show you their thinking in a way that is meaningful to them.

"My wish for you is that you continue. Continue to be who and how you are, to astonish a mean world with your acts of kindness. Continue to allow humor to lighten the burden of your tender heart." ~Maya Angelou

"Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So, throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover!" ~Mark Twain

"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you." ~Dr.Seuss
