Mrs. Wilson

About Me :

Hello families and welcome to Stargate!  We are so excited you are here with us as we embark on this wonderful journey together.  My name is Corrie Wilson and this is my 17th year as a teacher.  I have taught kindergarten for 14 years as well as pre-k and second grade.  I have had the amazing privilege of being part of the Stargate community for now five years. I graduated in 2000 from Bradley University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.   While there, I obtained a minor in English as well. Currently I am working on my Master's to obtain a degree in Early Childhood Education. My background has always been working with gifted children.  I started out at a very small school in Chicago where I tripled the size of my kindergarten class just after my first year.  Since then, I have always known my heart is with kindies as well as gifted children.

I am a mommy of two little boys ( not so little anymore), Evan and Noah who are 8 and 6.  I am incredibly lucky to have both children here with me at Stargate.  I am also a mommy to two shih-tzus who make me so happy. I am a wife to my college sweetheart Matt, as well as an avid animal lover who tries to rescue and help elderly animals in need.

I am thrilled to be your child's kindergarten teacher this year. We have an amazing year ahead where we will continue to support one another and work together daily.  Again, I am here for you and your family as I look forward to embarking on this wonderful journey together. :)

Here's to a fabulous 2018-2019 kindergarten year!

Please meet our para Ms. A:
I'm Ms. Archibold (Ms. A to the kids) and this is my third year as a paraeducator in Mrs. Wilson's classroom. I absolutely LOVE working with gifted kindergarteners! I have two daughters at Stargate (Maeve is in 1st grade and Nola is in 3rd grade) and a rescue mix named Hugo that take up all of the time I'm not at the school. I look forward to getting to know you and your families and am available to help in any way I can. Welcome!

What I Love about Teaching
I truly love all the smiles and laughter that come along with being a kindergarten teacher.  Not one day is the same and the growing and learning is on going!  I love the look on a child's face when they figure out something that was difficult for them.  I also love when a student makes a mistake and takes that mistake and makes a learning experience out of it.

Blogging:
I will be creating three blogs every Monday (which are highlighted below).   They cover Theme, Literacy, and Math. In the beginning of the school year, I will send home a homeroom blog in your child's white folder. As the year progresses I will discontinue to send them home as they will always be on my blog for you to read. :)
Grading:
I keep all grades on Infinite Campus which you can access from the menu on the left of this page.   All other information is on my project pages or my blogs.

Other important information:
I love to be outdoors with my family!  On my days off you could find us hiking, playing on a playground, or just being silly in our backyard!
