About Me

I love being a part of the Stargate community and look forward to the 2018/19 school year! This will be my fifth year with Stargate and eighth year teaching first grade.

I graduated from UNC with a BA degree in Communication and received my teaching license in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State University. I completed my Gifted Endorsement courses from Adams State University. I find it very rewarding to implement the strategies and resources from my education into my own classroom. I truly love teaching and working with gifted students!

Outside of teaching, I enjoy family time with my husband and our four-year-old little girl. We absolutely love to take advantage of our beautiful state with outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, biking, fishing and paddle boarding. We also enjoy taking part in educational and fun activities like the museum, aquarium, zoo, butterfly pavilion, botanic gardens, library, etc.

       What I Love about Teaching
My passion is to teach, inspire and be a role model. There are so many rewarding parts to being a teacher, some of those include the 'aha' moments, creativity,         hands on projects, community and relationship building. Watching my students grow and master new concepts and skills everyday gives me great joy!

"Teachers who LOVE teaching teach children to LOVE learning." - Robert John Meehan

"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." -Aristotle

        Grading
I keep all grades on Infinite Campus which you can access from the menu on the left. Grades are updated at the end of each week. If an *m is entered as the score the assignment is missing, if the score is blank the assignment grade has not yet been entered.
