Hola padres! Welcome to a new trimester of specials! I am so excited to have your kiddos this trimester and am looking forward to learning a lot with them. This trimester in 2nd grade Spanish I have Martinac/Spletzer homerooms and then Ross/Pecosky homerooms. For Spanish, the kids are split by grade level so I have all 2nd grade classes on A days. This week in Spanish we will be going over my rules and policies that will help us move toward a routine each day. The students will also be learning some classroom commands that I will use with them on a daily basis. This vocabulary list is as follows:
  • levantate: stand up
  • sientate: sit down
  • levanta la mano: raise your hand
  • da una vuelta: turn around
  • escucha: listen
  • silencio: be quiet
  • presta atencion: pay attention
  • El bano, por favor?: May I go to the bathroom please?
  • El agua, por favor?: May I get a drink please?
Please look out for a letter to be coming home today in your child's Monday folder. It details my expectations of parents and how we can work together to ensure your child's needs are met. You will also find a copy of my 'Classroom Management Plan'. Please go over this plan with your child and sign and return it to me (along with a designated Spanish folder) no later than Friday (02/27).

Ross/Pecosky homerooms will not have class on Thursday due to a 1/2 field trip, but Martinac and Spletzer homerooms will move forward with a cultural video. It is important that the two classes keep pace with one another so that they reach the same point by the end of the trimester. Thank you very much for reading and please email me and let me know if you have any questions during the beginning of our learning process!

It is expected that the students actively work on these projects at home, however I am available every day during snack recess for extra help if needed. Please contact me via email if you have any questions about the final project options or rubrics.

We had an amazing time during our PD day this past Friday learning all about how to foster children's creativity in our classrooms. If you would like the opportunity to learn more about this from a parental perspective, please see the information below:

Hola padres! I can't believe it is already the last week of the trimester! I am getting so emotional at the thought of having to say goodbye to my precious kindergartners until next year! :( It has been such a joy having them this trimester and I will surely miss them! This week in Kindergarten Spanish we will be wrapping things up with our last topic (body parts). On Thursday, we will have our end of the trimester fiesta for Murphy/Peters homerooms and on Friday we will have the fiesta for Allen/Wilson homerooms. I am so excited to celebrate all of the kindergartners accomplishments and to just have a fun and relaxing day together! If you will like to provide food for our fiesta, you are more than welcome, however I ask that nothing be brought in that contains nuts because we do have some pretty severe food allergies.

We had an amazing PD day this past Friday learning all about how to foster our student's creativity. If you are interested in learning more about this from a parental perspective, please see below:
