I hope to see you all at Curriculum Night this evening at 6:30.  If you are unable to come, I will be sending home the syllabus with your child for you to read and sign.

This week students will continue their personal narrative.  They will complete activities to help them focus on their writing, especially what they see and observe.
Monday: No School.
Tuesday: Describe a picture with a partner using their 5 senses.
Thursday: Writing activity focusing on sight and sound.
Friday: Students will begin writing their personal narrative rough draft.

Wednesdays will be devoted to specific grammar lessons.  For the next month, students will focus on prepositions.  They will be required to memorize all 53 prepositions.  Their first quiz will be on Wednesday over the prepositions beginning with A and B. Here are links to a couple of videos using song and motion to learn the prepositions.Their next quiz will be after Keystone on Sept 24.

Students have been given an assignment they will continue all year.  They have set aside one of their composition books as a Writer's Notebook for use at home.  This is a place to record thoughts, ideas, pondering, wondering, observations, etc. They need to write in it 2 times a week for 20 minutes each time, which should consist of a page. They may also type their entries, but the typed pages must be cut neatly and glued or taped into the notebook. I will give them due dates each quarter with how many entries they should have.  The due date is Wednesday. October 14.  They should have 15 entries.
I will put all homework assignments on my calendar at the bottom of the page. Please check it daily.
