I am wishing a wonderful break to all families!  May your time together cause relationships to grow and may fun times be had by all!

On Wednesday we will have our Gifted Discussion groups during Specials and Advisory.

Thursday is the field trip to DMNS Silk Road.  We will leave at 9:30, after Specials and Advisory, and return by 1:30.  The afternoon will be spent in science or social studies enrichment.

Students will continue to work on the final assignment for the book study, The ABC's of Hatchet, or The River.  This project will be due Tuesday at the end of class. On Wednesday and Friday they will share their projects and we will wrap up the author study by comparing and contrasting the two books.

After looking through my grade book, I have decided to drop the Argument Paper from the Research and Reasoning standard.  This is the only grade for that standard and I feel it is not a fair judgement of their progress in that standard.  Next semester there will be a focus on research and writing. The Argument Paper grade will still be under the Writing standard.
Students should be working on their Writer's Notebooks at home.  This is a place to record thoughts, ideas, pondering, wondering, observations, etc. They need to write in it 2 times a week for 10 minutes (Period 5) or 20 minutes (Period 6) each time. The next due date is Friday, January 9.  This is the Friday after we return from break.  It will be the first grade for the new semester. They should have 10 more entries for a total of 30 entries.

I will put all homework assignments on my calendar at the bottom of the page. Please check it daily. If you cannot see the calendar, have your child look at their Google calendars as I have shared my assignment calendar with them
