This week students will begin their personal narrative.  They will complete activities to help them focus on their writing, especially what they see and observe.
Monday: Recall a person experience and its consequences that had an impact on their lives and write the story.
Tuesday: Describe a favorite object. Students need to bring a favorite object from home.
Thursday: Everyone will describe the same object, adding details to make their object unique.
Friday: Activity on describing sights and sounds.

Wednesdays will be devoted to specific grammar lessons.  For the next month, students will focus on prepositions.  They will be required to memorize all 53 prepositions.  Their first quiz will be on September 9 over the prepositions beginning with A and B.

Students have been given an assignment they will continue all year.  They have set aside one of their composition books as a Writer's Notebook for use at home.  This is a place to record thoughts, ideas, pondering, wondering, observations, etc. They need to write in it 2 times a week for 20 minutes each time, which should consist of a page. They may also type their entries, but the typed pages must be cut neatly and glued or taped into the notebook. I will give them due dates each quarter with how many entries they should have.  The due date is Wednesday. October 14.  They should have 15 entries.
I will put all homework assignments on my calendar at the bottom of the page. Please check it daily.
