This week students will continue working on their final writing project of the year by continuing to create their own superhero comic book.  This week we will be focusing on finishing the rough draft of the comic book by today (Monday). This is really only for the writing and framing pieces, the artwork in the rough draft should only be for basic shapes, not the final artwork.  . The artwork will be in the final draft.  Once their rough draft is complete, they will get the sheets to create the final draft.  The final draft should be a complete story told with color, neatness, best effort, high quality (drawings to your best effort, proofread, proper grammar, etc.).  We talked about the fact  that the character will need to be drawn many times so they should not be too detailed. We will then share our comics when we are done, roughly around the week of May 11.

Students can  bring in their own comic books to show us examples.

Students should be working on their Writer's Notebooks at home.  This is a place to record thoughts, ideas, pondering, wondering, observations, etc. They need to write in it 2 times a week for 10 minutes (Period 5), which should consist of at least half a page, or 20 minutes (Period 6), which should consist of a page, each time. The next due date is Thursday, May 7.  They should have 15 more entries for a total of 60 entries.

Wednesday will be the last Gifted Discussion group of the year during periods 1 and 2.

We will not have class on Friday due to the choice field trip.

Students will have the end of year literacy PARCC testing on Tuesday from 7:45-11:15. The end of year math testing will be next Wednesday, May 6.

I will put all homework assignments on my calendar at the bottom of the page. Please check it daily. If you cannot see the calendar, have your child look at their Google calendars as I have shared my assignment calendar with them.
