Monday: Continue informative paper unit.  Rough draft is due today.  Peer edit on rough draft.
Tuesday: We will discuss elaboration and transitions.   Begin working on final copy.
Wednesday: Work on final copy. No 6th Period due to Diabetes Walk. Students need to have a parent or older sibling edit their final draft tonight and sign the back, indicating they have done so. Please see the attached document for MLA requirements.
Thursday: Final copy due at the beginning of class. Share papers with each other.
Friday: No class due to choice field trip.

Students need to continue writing in their home writer's notebook.  As a reminder, this is a place to record thoughts, ideas, pondering, wondering, observations, etc. They need to write in it 2 times a week for 20 minutes each time, which should consist of a page. They may also type their entries, but the typed pages must be 12 point font, and cut neatly and glued or taped into the notebook.  The next due date is Friday, May 13.  They should have 15 more entries for a total of 60 entries.

I will put all homework assignments on my calendar at the bottom of the page. Please check it daily.

You have the power to be a superhero! Join us as we WALK to raise our goal or $10,000 in the Stargate School: Walk to Stop Diabetes on April 27th to support our three students and two teachers living with type 1 diabetes!

Your donations towards our Stargate School: Walk to Stop Diabetes stays right here in Colorado to support the American Diabetes Association’s Camp Sweet Pea for kids ages 5-10 years old and Camp Colorado for kids ages 9-17 years old living with type 1 diabetes. Campers can enjoy traditional camp activities, while being surrounded by health professionals who provide continuous medical supervision. Campers learn how to manage their own diabetes-care, while interacting with counselors who may have diabetes and serve as positive role models. They meet friends who understand what it's like to be a person living with diabetes and have fun at summer camp - just like any other kid! Every dollar you donate helps to send a Colorado kid to diabetes camp!

Donate directly on our webpage:

Here’s how it works: By MONDAY, APRIL 25TH turn in your envelope to your Homeroom teacher or Advisory, totaling online contributions as well as any enclosed cash/checks (payable to American Diabetes Association). The homeroom, advisory group, or staff group with the highest fundraising will receive a LUNCH PARTY, provided by our friends at the ADA.

Then, on April 27th, be sure to join us (along with your fellow students, parents and friends) for a Pep Assembly at 12:30pm, followed by the Stargate School: Walk to Stop Diabetes. Also – the first 300 students or staff members to donate $25 or more get a T-shirt to wear on the Walk!

For questions, please reach out to Mrs. Pecosky, Teacher Sponsor (deborah.pecosky@stargateschool.org) or Adrian Miller, Parent Champion (amillers@comcast.net). Thank you for making an impact here in our community and for supporting Camp Colorado and Camp Sweet Pea!
