About Me
This will be my second year at Stargate! I graduated from University of Colorado Boulder with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.  In addition, I also received my Secondary Science Teaching Certificate from The School of Education at CU and I have recieved my Gifted Education Specialist endorsement.  I am Flynn Safety Certified, Wilderness Safety Certified, as well as CPR Certified.  This summer, I spent my time in D.C. and went to many of the amazing museums.  I went to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, The Counter Intelligence or Spy Museum, and many other memorable and historic locations. Below are photos from my D.C. trip!

I also got two german shepherd puppies!

What I Love about Teaching
I spent my summers on a farm in Montana growing up.  I developed a wealth of life experiences to draw upon from there.  Although I didn't know it yet, I learned many science concepts through hands on experiences on the farm.  I want to draw out students' experiences to make science concepts connect for them.

There are many ways that I want to create meaningful science experiences for my students.  Take a look at one of the research experiments my students and I observed and participated in below.  The hexagon-shaped glass structures heat the ground that they surround by about 3 degrees Celsius. We were trying to determine if the abundance of vegetation and liter biomass changed depending on this temperature alteration.  This relates to the Stargate way, "Hands-on, Minds-on."  I love teaching science by providing challenging, creative, and meaningful experiences to help my students see their own potential in science.  I strive to facilitate them in imagining possibilities that are outside of the box and I encourage them to ask questions that I don't even know the answers to.  That's science!
