This week we are applying what we have learned so far in addition and subtraction to solve one and two-step word problems. We will be discussing different techniques that really help break down each problem and discussing the importance of including the correct units in their answer. We will continue using models to provide and explain mathematical reasoning. By using these techniques, I hope to get the students excited about word problems!

Here is a meme on word problems to get your Monday started off right. :)

Our class is two gems away from winning a class party! I am confident that we will be reaching our next goal in a day or two. I will keep all of you updated via email on if your child needs to bring anything into class and when the party will be taking place.

Dinner Table Talking Points

We know that kids often say they have nothing to talk about when asked about their day at school. Here are a few suggestions to help get them talking about what they learned and experienced this week. Ask your child...

1. To tell you what a "whole minus a part" equals.

2. To tell you about their estimation rap from last week.

3. To tell you about their class party.

4. To tell you how they did on their Chapter 4 test.
