Since we only had a VERY short week last week, we will be covering some of the material mentioned in my previous blog as well as opening up a new unit on nonfiction! We will now have our final performances Monday, January 9th at 9:00am in my classroom (Room 128). I apologize again if there were any time conflicts with rescheduling. The students are definitely excited for a family audience! I hope to see you all there.

The students will receive a new reading log for the week. This log will be due Thursday, January 12th. There will once again be no spelling this week since we will be working on various words together as a class. I will hand out new lists next week.

Friday, January 13th is an assessment day for students (no school). Please be sure to sign your child up for a time slot using this link.

Thank you to those who contributed to our snack signup for the performances! :)

Dinner Table Talking Points

We know that kids often say they have nothing to talk about when asked about their day at school. Here are a few suggestions to help get them talking about what they learned and experienced this week. Ask your child...

1. To tell you what their favorite part about their fable unit was.

2. To tell you what a "prop" is.

3. To tell you about their writing prompt for their writing assessment.

4. To tell you what the difference is between a fiction and nonfiction book.
