This week the students will be finishing up their biographies, exploring different nonfiction texts, and completing a scavenger hunt of nonfiction text features.

The students will receive a new reading log for the week. This log will be due Friday, February 10th. The students will also have a spelling test on Friday, February 10th. There will be no spelling menu so the students are responsible for studying on their own this week. Spelling City and practice tests are a great way to do this. Remember, the spelling groups have changed to pink and blue (no green group).

Dinner Table Talking Points

We know that kids often say they have nothing to talk about when asked about their day at school. Here are a few suggestions to help get them talking about what they learned and experienced this week. Ask your child...

1. To tell you who they wrote a biography on and what facts they learned about that person.

2. To tell you what a diagram is.

3. To tell you what a table of contents is.

4. To tell you what a glossary is.

5. To tell you what research they have done in class about different topics.
