This week the students will spend a lot of time conducting research, planning with a t-chart, and writing about a particular topic they are interested in. Below you will find the traffic light system that we use in class to create a proper paragraph.

The students will receive a new reading log and spelling menu for the week. Both will be due Friday, March 3rd. Also, they have a spelling test this week which will be on Friday, March 3rd

Dinner Table Talking Points

We know that kids often say they have nothing to talk about when asked about their day at school. Here are a few suggestions to help get them talking about what they learned and experienced this week. Ask your child...

1. To tell you what the three traffic light colors mean in their writing.

2. To tell you what book they checked out from the library.

3. To tell you three facts that they learned when conducting research.

4. To tell you why we use a topic and conclusion sentence.

5. To tell you about their field trip.
