I hope everyone had a great conference last week and a relaxing weekend. This week we will spending a lot of time in our Daily 5 stations and focusing on reading groups to help finish out our unit. We will also begin "expository writing" where the students will be conducting their own research.

The students will receive a new reading log for the week. This log will be due Friday, February 24th. Also, they will be receiving a new spelling list (no spelling menu). Their next spelling test will be on Friday, March 3rd

Dinner Table Talking Points

We know that kids often say they have nothing to talk about when asked about their day at school. Here are a few suggestions to help get them talking about what they learned and experienced this week. Ask your child...

1. To tell you what a "main idea" is.

2. To tell you what they are working on in reading group.

3. To tell you what they want to write about for their informational piece.

4. To tell you what the different ways one can conduct research about a specific topic.

5. To tell you what they enjoyed the most in literacy so far this year.
