PARCC/CMAS Testing Dates

It’s almost time for testing season. The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and the Colorado Measure of Academic Success (CMAS) will start on March 14.

Here are the dates for all of the assessments:

PARCC for all 3rd through 5th grade students  - March 14, 16, 17, 20, 21, 23, and 24

We will start with four math assessments and then complete three english language assessments (ELA). All the math assessments are 60 minutes long and the time reflects setup and time to read the instructions. The ELA assessments are all approximately 90 minutes long with time to read the directions.

Testing times for March 14, 6, 17, and 18

Every year we complete an infrastructure trial with the 3rd grade students to make sure they are knowledgeable on how to use the online tools that the assessments provide. This will take place this week on Thursday, March 9.

A few parents have expressed a desire to review the test with their student at home and here is a link that will be helpful with practice problems and a tutorial on how to use all the tools the test has to offer.

I recommend going through the TestNav 8 Tutorial and the Online Student Tutorials for ELA and Math. The ELA will cover reading and writing and the other section covers Math. Select the 3-5 released materials.

At Stargate, we like to have a healthy approach to standardized assessments and we strive to keep stress at a minimum. There is so much more to our children than the results of a standardized assessment.

*We will be covering parts of Chapter 7, Chapter 8 and Chapter 9; we will just hit essential skills. There will be no quiz this week, and homework will be kept to a minimum.
