Drat! My apologies for not posting a blog last week. Monday and Tuesday I was at the Gifted conference and before I knew, Friday was here!  Last week, on Tuesday we did some work on summarizing non-fiction new articles. Wednesday through Friday we presented our projects on The Outsiders.

This week...
We are beginning the classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. We will be moving through this book at a steady pace working on the story itself, the themes presented and craft used by Harper Lee in writing this timeless story. Lee has an excellent vocabulary and until the students get a rhythm for the story it can be challenging. We will adjust our pace depending on how well students are progressing.

Monday - Background on Harper Lee and segregation. Read aloud chapter 1.
Tuesday - Establish setting and characters. Read chapters 2 & 3.
Wednesday - Vocab 4 test
Thursday - discuss chapters 2 & 3
Friday - Read aloud.
